The stakes for backup and cyber resilience/recovery teams have never been greater. 📈 According to Sophos' The State of Ransomware 2024, ransomware recovery costs (EXCLUDING ransom payments) have soared from an average of $1.82M in 2023 to $2.73M in 2024, a 50% increase. The largest attack of 2024 to date (UnitedHealth Group's Change Healthcare) involved total estimated recovery costs of ~$1 Billion, and the company is still working to recover some of its systems nearly five months after the attack.
