Panels of PCR-based tests have become crucial in studying pathogens and detecting infectious diseases, significantly enhancing diagnosis, treatment, and public health monitoring. These panels offer high sensitivity and specificity, allowing clinicians to tailor treatments and respond rapidly to infections. However, it’s not easy to develop. “Building such panels takes time and effort, and the key here is to use authenticated [microbial] strains,” says Leka Papazisi, ATCC Principal Scientist. At ATCC, we provide the essential biomaterials, including “high-quality, quantified microbes, as well as native and synthetic nucleic acids,” that drive the development and validation of these crucial diagnostic tools. “These materials are fundamental to developing PCR panels for the development, validation, and performance monitoring of these systems,” says ATCC Senior Scientist James Budnick, Ph.D. Our commitment to quality and innovation supports researchers worldwide in their fight against infectious diseases.
