Google’s major announcement about the plan to give users the choice to consent to cookies on Chrome sent shockwaves across the ecosystem. In the context of user-level data signal loss, this means some loss is actually mitigated. But the picture is still extremely vague: Opt-out or opt-in mechanism? Dual consent yes or no? Strict/fixed or flexible use of language and UX functionality? Time will tell.🔮 But regardless of whether user level data is or will be limited or deprecated across iOS, Android, and the Web, the story remains the same: signal loss is a major challenge for marketers, which is why a new data reality must be created.
