Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is the sequel that fans have been waiting ages for. With this new Crash game comes a new way of playing. The introduction of the Modern mode gives players a bit of a break when it comes to facing the new game, which is arguably one of the hardest in the series.

To switch between Modern and Retro, all you have to do is go to the Gameplay Options menu and swap between the two of them. In Modern mode, players are given an infinite amount of lives and return to any checkpoint after dying. Retro mode gives players the classic Crash Bandicoot experience where you have a finite number of lives, and if you run out of lives, you will get a game over and have to start the level over again.
