Glove touch before the fight starts.
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information

There’s plenty of new combat to love in UFC 4. You can perform a clinch, a takedown, and keep your defenses up. You also have the option to modify the grappling assist interface based on your preference. There’s plenty you do in the game, and a linear mechanic coming from the other titles is the fact you can glove touch your opponent before the match officially starts.

Before a fight starts, you have the option to glove touch with your opponent. You can do this after the referee tells you and your opponent that the match has started. To do this, click the L2 trigger when using a PlayStation 4 controller, or the LT trigger if you’re using an Xbox One. You and your opponent will exchange a quick tap with your gloves, and then the brawl can start between the two of you. You want to move slowly while doing it as your fighter won’t be able to do while moving too quickly to prevent people from fake a glove touch.

Some players will continue to fake you out when going for the glove touch. If they do, it may hint they need to try to take any hit they can before a fight starts. You may want to be more aggressive to an opponent who chooses to fake you out. Plus, who doesn’t want to have solid sportsmanship? We’re all here to have fun and throw a few competitive punches.
