Windows 8 release date announced

Just in time for Halloween.

Windows 8 will launch on 26th October, Microsoft has announced.

President of the Windows and Windows Live division Steven Sinofsky revealed this during Microsoft's annual sales meeting, where it was then posted on the official Windows Blog.

Ostesibly Microsoft's unique tablet The Surface will launch the same day as was announced during the hardware's reveal in June. No mention was made in the recent post, but last we checked the RT version of the Surface was slated for release day and date as Windows 8, with the premium Windows 8 Pro model to follow approximately 90 days later.
