Masahiro Sakurai has set up a new company in partnership with Nintendo and begun work on a new videogame.

Sakurai is known for creating the Kirby character. He also designed Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Now he and Nintendo have teamed up to establish Project Sora. A website for the company is already up and running (thanks, Kotaku).

Project Sora was established on 22nd January with a healthy investment from Nintendo, which owns around 72 per cent of the firm. Around 30 people are on the staff at present, but Sakurai is currently hiring.

So what will the new game be? Not another Smash Bros. title, according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. "It's not Smash Bros. I asked for," he said.

Sakurai wouldn't offer any hints either, but did say, "I can promise an experience that's different from anything [you've played] up until now."
