SEGA has announced it's to publish the game spin-offs of Planet 51, an animated comedy film from the writer of the first two Shrek films, Joe Stillman.

The movie's out in November in the US and the game is also scheduled for a "winter" release for 360, PS3, Wii and DS.

The game's being developed, somewhat randomly, by Pyro Studios, Spanish makers of the Commandos series of tactical wargames. Only it's not so random - the Planet 51 movie is in fact the first feature film from Pyro's sister animation studio, Ilion.

The film is about an astronaut who lands on an uncharted planet to discover it's actually populated by little green men "living in a white picket fence world reminiscent of a cheerfully innocent American town circa 1950, and whose only fear is that it will be overrun by alien invaders... like Chuck!" With hilarious consequences. The game will revolve around "mission-based driving", apparently.
