Nintendo gives away TV remote

Shaped like... Can you guess?

You'd think that Nintendo might be a bit tired of everyone saying that the Revolution's "freestyle" controller looks like a telly remote. But no, they've decided to embrace it by offering members of Japan's Nintendo Club a very special treat.

Platinum members - i.e., those who have earned at least 400 points by buying around 10 GBA games or seven GameCube titles over the course of a year - will receive a universal television remote shaped just like, you guessed it, the Revolution's "freestyle" controller.

You can take a look at it on the Club Nintendo website, which also features a pic of the rather spanky calendar that will be sent out too. Poor old gold members will get the calendar only.

So, any chance European Nintendo fans will also get a free Rev remote? Not really, we suspect, since the Japanese seem to have all the luck when it comes to these sorts of goodies. Nintendo Europe was unavailable for comment at the time of writing, but we'll keep you posted.
