Eurogamer's off to Germany this month to witness Games Convention first hand - and we'll be in good company. Our own in fact, since the Leipzig consumer event will also mark the launch of our new sister-site, Eurogamer.de.

Eurogamer.de will cater to millions of games enthusiasts in German-speaking countries. Like Germany. As with Eurogamer.net, it will cover all platforms, genres and styles of games, and offer broadband video content and interactive editorial.

The launch comes courtesy of us lot - Eurogamer Network Ltd - and Nuremberg Internet publisher Extent Media GbR, whose founders Oliver Menne and Thomas Borovskis bring a total of over 30 years publishing experience to Eurogamer.de.

"The partnership with Extent Media meets all the requirements to repeat Eurogamer's tremendous success in Germany," said our boss Rupert Loman, somewhat implausibly since he's at the Big Chill at the moment.

"Eurogamer.de is the first important step of our European expansion strategy. We're very happy to have found a long-term and experienced partner in Extent Media, a company that shares our vision for the future of videogames editorial publishing," he wittered on as we nodded sycophantically.

Eurogamer.de will launch to coincide with Games Convention on August 24th, where presumably we'll be sleeping on their office floor and teaching them what "wicked" means.
