A Kinect-friendly web browser is currently in the works for the Xbox 360, according to sources close to Microsoft.

The Verge's insider claimed that the platform holder is currently testing a modified version of Internet Explorer 9. It's optimised for voice and motion controls but will apparently also work with a standard controller.

The Xbox dash already has Bing functionality, but that's currently limited to media searches.

There's no word on a planned launch for the feature, though, if true, E3 seems like a sound bet. We've asked Microsoft for clarification, and will update if it goes beyond the standard "no comment on rumour and speculation" gambit.

The Xbox 360 is currently the only current gen console without some kind of web browser built in.
