Valve has announced that it will release Half-Life 2 for Mac OS X on Steam later today, 26th May.

The release includes the two extensions of the storyline to date, Episodes 1 and 2, as confirmed by Shacknews. It's not currently clear if they'll be bundled into a single download or available separately.

It's over five years now since the classic FPS was released, and it's still a landmark for world-building, in-game storytelling and physics-based gameplay. Eurogamer placed it fourth in our lifetime Top 10 on our 10th anniversary last year.

Valve announced the release with a trailer paying homage to Apple's famous 1984 advert for the release of the Macintosh. Watch it below.
