EB Games Australia has issued a recall of their Xbox 360 premium consoles, with store managers ordered to return their entire inventories, GamesIndustry.biz reports.

According to a Kotaku story, the problem surfaced two weeks ago when store managers were first asked to test their in-stock units for errors. Subsequently, they were asked to return their entire inventories.

The recall, which affects the premium and not the core Xbox 360 consoles, is assumed to be related to a faulty batch of HDDs rather than to the widely-reported "red rings" issue. New premium consoles will apparently be back in the market channels by Wednesday.

It is unknown if US or UK consoles will face similar recalls. An EB Games/GameStop representative was not immediately available for comment, and Microsoft has not responded to a request for confirmation.

It's recall city and GamesIndustry.biz's the mayor!
