Sony is working on a hybrid Blu-ray disc that includes game content alongside actual feature films, according to a report on Video Business (thanks GameSpot).

"We are actively pushing, and the way that we see the future is that the movie and the game are placed on the same disc," John Koller, PS3's marketing director, told the site.

"There are a lot of developers who say, we have this game based on a movie, wouldn't it be great to marry these concepts? We will definitely see this stuff this year."

VB reported that the game disc would provide access to an entire film, and allow consumers to transfer the film to PSP for viewing, although it claimed details have yet to be finalised and doesn't quote Koller on those specifics.

Film and game Blu-rays are currently sold separately, and we'd imagine any hybrid discs would command a premium to allow games and films to continue selling separately.

In the case of movie tie-ins, they would also have to come out sometime after the initial game release, which is usually positioned to match the cinema release schedule.
