Following the news some time ago that TDK and Disney had formed a global publishing agreement for games based on some of Disney's forthcoming films - in turn based on some of the company's theme park rides - TotalVideoGames are reporting on the first of these, with details of Pirates of the Caribbean.

The game is surprisingly to be developed by none other than Bethesda Softworks, of Morrowind fame. The game will be based on the forthcoming film starring Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, which in turn is based on the Disney theme park ride of the same name (which has creaking animatronic pirates shouting drunkenly and singing sea shanties, and that is why it is good).

The plan is to turn the license into an epic 17th Century pirate-flavoured RPG, and with Bethesda at the helm there's no reason to assume that this is another case of shoddy franchise milking, and could be well worth keeping your eye on.
