343: Halo 4 Spartan Ops season longer than Halo 3: ODST

"Number of missions has no bearing on the length of the campaign."

The Halo 4 Spartan Ops series of episodic content is longer than Halo 3: ODST, 343 Industries has revealed.

Spartan Ops is a co-op mode that will be released as a series of 10 TV-style episodes following the launch of Halo 4. Each week brings a new episode and with it five missions, each between 10 and 15 minutes long.

Posting on NeoGAF (lybertyboy), Spartan Ops designer David Ellis said: "SpOps season alone is longer than ODST," before adding that Halo 4's campaign and Sparton Ops missions are made by "completely separate teams".

The post was sparked by Halo franchise director Frank O'Connor's (Stinkles) response to concern at the length of the game's campaign following the release of its Achievements.

THE FOLLOWING MAY BE A SPOILER.

The Achievement list revealed the game's campaign includes eight missions.

"Number of missions has no bearing on the length of the campaign," O'Connor said. "It's a Halo sized campaign. PLUS Spops etc."

Halo 3: ODST, Bungie's penultimate Halo game, drew criticism for the length of its campaign, which for some lasted only a few hours.
