Bungie, put your money where your mouth is about accessibility

Despite your talk about accessibility, and Disability Pride in the TWID, you have done almost literally nothing to make the game more accessible to photosensitive people. My fiancée loved Destiny when she first started playing, and wants to play with me more, but because of how many sources of flickering light and bright flashes there are in the game, almost half the activities put her at risk of a seizure, or force her to fight one off. I know she's not the only one, and epilepsy isn't the only medical issue that causes photosensitivity either. You're preventing a lot of players from enjoying or even playing the game by not putting any effort into either reducing how many sources of flickering lights or bright flashes there are in the game, or adding settings to turn off flickering lights and/or reduce the brightness of large flashes, so that they're not so jarring and will be less likely to trigger photosensitivity issues.

  • I don’t have epilepsy and some of the flashes hurt my eyes or make my head hurt. It’s simply too much. Lots of mmos have the option to tone down or turn off special effects. The morons on this forum are simply frogs in the well.

  • For all the idiots: toggles for this kind of stuff are easy to implement.

You can probably get glasses that reduce the eye strain and intensity. Even then ghosts of the deep final boss would still be a living hell😬…

      • I suggest posting this in help since BNGhelp patrols there.

Also no camera shake options. Archaic. The whole screen flashing away whilst juddering about is...nuts.

      • [quote] but because of how many sources of flickering light and bright flashes there are in the game, almost half the activities put her at risk of a seizure, or force her to fight one off. Rework HALF the game to fix this minority problem? Don't get me wrong, I understand your situation and the one of your fiancée. However, you should be aware that removing as many "critical light sources" as possible, will also mean: * No gun muzzle fire * No good ability textures * Gradually reduced graphic details like bloom, light source glare, etc. * Lack of telegraphing of attacks and abilities * Gunfire having no "bullet trails" (by that I mean elemental weapons having no visuals of fire) You are basically asking for half of Destiny 2s fidelity being reduced or completely taken out by those (hopefully) optional settings. Your fiancée should perhaps ask herself, if this game is really for her... There are many other games out there that have less flashy stuff going on. Shooters are the prime candidate for games that can cause seizures. I really don't want to sound like that guy but this situation feels a lot like going into a movie genre you heavily dislike (for example horror movie with spiders) and asking for removing a major aspect of that movie because you don't like it.

        • You could get specific glasses to combat this.

          • I'm sorry for what your fiancé lives with, but this is a game with guns that have muzzle flashes, explosions, futuristic technology with lights that flash, and any number of other things that could trigger an episode; I imagine there's only so much that can be done to alleviate those effects without completely diminishing the intended experience.

            • So you expect them to.. rebuild the entire game, and create a photosensitivity version? As unfortunate as it is that people suffer from disabilities like these, that's not how it works

              • Next, video games should consider and cater to every phobia in existence also.
