Journey Rank 6 - Vendor Challenges confusion
Hey Bungie. My son is starting out in Destiny 2 as a new light and we've gotten him up to working on Journey Rank 6. I'm trying to help him complete Vendor Challenges in order to unlock the rest of the armor mods, but its not working as I'd expect.
We got one tick of progress doing Banshee's weekly challenge, but were not getting credit for Hawthorne or Failsafe.
Research I've done on this indicates its been broken for over a year since weekly bounty challenges were removed from Shaxx, Zavala and Drifter. I've also found a lot of people not being able to complete Vendor Challenges step and confusion on how to get it done.
Given the changes in the Destiny sandbox, is it possible to just make Vendor Challenges automatically unlock for anyone reaching Rank 6? Or is there some other path to unlocking it?

Another poster on the same issue said they did the eight Banshee bounties in a week twice, and it counted to get the rank up. None of the other bounty vendors counted. If your son has a second character, it sounds as if completing the 8 on two characters in the same week also counts. It's only been broken since Final Shape launched, and they switched from Zavala, Shax, and Drifter bounties to the new Pathfinder Ritual system. (I ranked up last summer myself, so it worked after Lightfall.) I've seen one response from Bungie saying they know about the issue, but it isn't listed on their known issues page. At least not the last time I checked. I have seen multiple people posting, but not many comments on how to get past it. I have two friends with the same issue, but they're busy with other stuff and aren't focusing on the Guardian Ranks right now, so all I have is 3rd person suggestions. Hope this helps!
