EDIT - It's cheaper now. It's absolutely fantastic for music listening thanks to the planar drivers.

Yes the Audeze Maxwell is certainly not cheap at £350 but the sound quality is absolutely amazing compared to every other gaming headset I've owned. I have to say they are not heavy at all for me either unlike what many YouTubers claim in reviews. For music listening they are very good (planar goodness) but I primarily use them for gaming. I've looked for and tested out some good custom presets I have found on Reddit r/Audeze. Tweak them until you find the sound signature which suits your needs/preference. The biggest negative is probably the microphone quality. For the price range it definitely could have been better but it's ok, it's passable. The battery life has been stupidly good and does not need charging after every use like other headsets. Wireless range seems pretty good too, better than my old Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2's. No drop outs either I'm happy to say but I am relatively close to the dongle whilst gaming. It's also very important that the headset and dongle firmware match otherwise it will not work properly. I recommend downloading the accompanying android app Audeze HQ which seems to work well currently.

I've only encountered 1 issue which I've since rectified. For some reason whilst gaming the dongle just stopped working suddenly on my Xbox Series X. No matter which usb port I tried the little white led would not come on. I feared that the dongle had broken but I found the solution on Reddit.

I had to reset the dongle via the little pinhole on it and switch it to pc, reconnect it back up via pc and then resync it again. Switch it back to Xbox then re-pair the dongle (white led functions again) to the headset and it worked on the console again. All throughout the dongle issue bluetooth functionality was unaffected and worked as normal obviously.

Good sound, good battery life, good build quality, good range.

Right ear cup has developed a crinkle sound when lightly pushed that does not seem to change how they sound.

Side tone (playing your voice back to you) has a constant static tone that I've not experienced with much cheaper headsets.

Computer application is okay, phone app is not brilliant in comparison.

These sound incredible. They are extremely comfortable and have great passive sound isolation and minimal sound leakage (remember no ANC here). I have come from what were Corsairs top wired headset from 3 years ago and there is no comparison in sound quality. We also have a pair of Bose Quietcomfort Ultra and Sony XM5 headphones in the house and these are far superior in sound quality and, in my opinion, comfort. Even without ANC these do a fine job of passive noise cancelation, and as this is achieved by a good seal on the head, which also means they do a good job of avoiding sound leakage.

As many reviews have already pointed out these are a very solid, well built pair of headphones with a large battery and extra technology onboard, this of course also leads to a substantial weight. I don't find this to a problem at all and can comfortably wear them for 8-10 hours (less bathroom breaks) on the weekends, however I can see why some might find this a problem.

I have two gripes with these:

1 - This is the big one for me..... Why oh why didn't they make the ear pads just a few mileometers deeper? I think it may be more of a problem if you have a slightly larger head and the band is stretched a little more than usual, but after a short while, when the foam compresses a bit, you can feel the material and the hard material under it touching the top of your ear. This seems to be a very common complaint but easily fixed. Following the advice of many YouTube videos I purchased a set of the Wicked cushions - These are of a very high quality and, in my opinion, do nothing to effect the sound quality or passive isolation of the headphones while solving the problem and provide a huge increase in overall comfort. Of course this is totally subjective, but I would certainly factor in the possibility of having to buy a set of these cushions and they run at about 10% the price of the actual headphones. In my opinion, even if you don't have a problem with the originals the Wicked Pads are a very good buy if you are going to wear the headphones a lot.

2 - The headband design could do with extra holes placed slightly closer together to offer better range of adjustments and also so they could accommodate smaller heads. To me this small change in the design seems obvious and I don't understand why this wasn't picked up in product testing before the headphones were released. I personally would have to use the middle and bottom set of holes to get a perfect fit but find myself using both the bottom set of holes and putting up with a slightly looser fit as it bothers me to have them uneven. I don't want to sound like a salesman for Wicked (who manufacture the cushions mentioned above) but their third party headband sorted this problem out for me and I like the slightly wider band, although I did prefer the material of the original over the replacement.

With these two problems sorted, and I must emphasis that I imagine most people will be happy with them just the way they are, these headphone are as perfect a set of headphones that I could possibly wish for.

I really like these. I use them over the included dongle on PC. Mainly for gaming with friends so the chat/game mixer control on the headset is very handy for this purpose.

The sound is superb. These are great for listening to music on, great clarity and range.

Had some issues with these but the seller in Sussex was excellent.
The audio quality exceeds my prior A50's and X9's but connectivity is spotty at times. Would I buy again, no but would 100% buy from the seller again. Ben was very patient with me and Steve made the right call in serving everyones needs.

The microphone is actually awful. The rest is amazing. But what's the point? You're spending £300 on it. Why on earth is the microphone so bad????

Amazing headset! So much customization options and the EQ software is legit. Recommend this headset to any one looking for a high end gaming experience. The microphone is a little boom like and can enhance the bass in your voice. 8.3/10 definitely my favourite headset that I’ve owned over the last ten years!

The build quality is second to none, the metal frame and adjustable headband are a great added feature

I came from the senhieser momentum 3s. These guys I’d say are 3-5 times better sounding. They are 200 grams heavier than my old headset but are comfier to wear. I do feel the additional weight after ~6 hours of use. But I’m sure will go away as I use this daily and my neck gets used to it. I love the features. The range is GREAT I go anywhere in my house with perfect connectivity. I did have to move the dongle to a port on a less restricted port ( back to from port ). I haven’t had to charge them yet so I guess the battery is great !! Music sounds incredible, I take the microphone off when I listen in bed but put on for gaming. I paid 450$ cad all in all for this. I believe this product is extremely fairly priced for what you get. They take a little bit to get used to but once you do they are quite a pleasure. I have no issue believing these will last for a long time. There are also many updates to software which is nice to see. There was a French review that when I translated it called headsets “helmets” but I can’t help but think of these as my helmet hetset. There huge. But comfortable, they really hide it in the design. I’m impressed and am happy audeze made a high quality headset with a fair price. I believe this is the new gold standard for wireless music/gaming headsets

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome headset

I was waiting to upgrade my headset for many years but nothing seems to have the versatility of my logitech G933. When this came out and I was very hyped about this headset and decided to finally pull the trigger. I received this unit on 3/21 and been using it daily. This headset sounds amazing. Overall, i enjoy this headset and it was a well worth purchase.

Here are some pros and cons after 2 weeks of use.

Pros:
- Headset sounds amazing and can get extremely loud. There are various presets such as bass boost and treble boost. These presets slightly boost the bass and treble and maintain very clear sound. It doesnt make the sound muddy. Setting this headset to volume of 78 is equivalent to my old headset at 100 with dolby atmos on. If i turn off dolby for the G933, the volume will be extremely low.
-Battery life: the headset battery life lasts quite long. Under the first week, i manage to get around 60 hours. I havent done a true test yet as Audeze claims 80 hours with volume being 80 dB. During my first week of use, I push this to the limits and multiple times running volume at 100 and connecting to multiple device. Overall, huge step up from my old headset which lasts ..maybe 8 hours now.
- Connection versatility - Like my old logitech, this can connect in a variety of methods- aux, usb dongle, bluetooth 5.3 and wired USB mode. All these require the headset to be turned on but the battery life is so good that its not a big deal. Also, this support mutliple bluetooth codecs SBC,AAC, LC3, LDAC.
- Connection range - the range using the dongle is quite amazing. So far for my apartment, i was able to walk out to the living room and still have good audio. Distance is about 25 ft or more. With bluetooth, it was almost as good, audio did get a little static.
-Microphone was very good . My GF said I sound clear and loud. The background noise suppression was amazing. I was able to eat chips while talking and she did not hear it. Theres also a built in mic when you remove the boom mic which is neat.
-Build quality - Aesthetic is sleek and very understated. Did not look gaudy at all. EarPads were comfortable but gets a little warm. Earpads were deep enough but after long use, my ears can eventually touch the driver. The construction feels sturdy and nice. Although makes me worry that I will scratch the paint off.

Cons:
-No simultaneous bluetooth with the dongle. Not a huge deal but this may be important for some people. You can still achieve this via usb + BT or aux + BT. Due to the nature of the dongle, I dont see wireless simultaneous BT ever being a possibility. The dongle is not a 2.4 ghz dongle. It is actually an LC3+ bluetooth dongle. Despite this, the latency is just as good. I did not notice any latency.
-Latency for gaming on phone at the moment is okay. Since most phones dont have LC3 support, we are stuck with SBC, AAC, or LDAC. All three dont have amazing latency. I play alot of rhythm games on phone and I can sense lag right away. So far SBC is the best for Android and AAC for iphones.
-Comfort - this headset is heavy so may be a dealbreaker for some people. It was fine for me with the suspension headband. One annoying thing was that on the default notch for the headband, the bottom of my top of my ears touch the inner ear pad wall. However, if i move the band notch up, it becomes too tight and the bottom of my ear now touches the earpad. I ultimately went back to default configuration and wore a hat instead.
- Software - still needs to be updated. On PC, none of the custom preset can be set at the moment. You can still use android app to set the preset on your phone and it will sync with your device I think. Also the battery indicator on the Audeze HQ for PC is not giving the right readings. If you charge to 100%, and start using, it wil quickly drop to 95%. However, the next time you turn it on, it will read 100% again. Customer support says they are working on a fix for this to show proper battery reporting.
