Introduction to Translation and GlotPress Updates

Wednesday, September 28 at 7:00 UTC — APAC-Friendly Time
Wednesday, September 28 at 13:00 UTC — European-Friendly Time

In this workshop, we will introduce WordPress Translation Day 2022. We will go over the current state of translation in WordPress, which will be followed by a pre-recorded walkthrough of the new feedback tool on translate.wordpress.org. This event will replace the weekly Polyglots chat, and there will be time for questions at the end.

Training Team – WordPress Translation Contributor Day

Friday, September 30 from 7:00 UTC to 19:00 UTC

This year, the Training team is focusing on translating the content on LearnWP. Thanks to the work @rastaban started at WordCamp US Contributor day, we’re well on our way to having various locales available.

This event is open to various contributor groups again this year. @majaloncar will be on hand starting at 7UTC to help onboard contributors and various team members will be on hand for 12 hours. We will help folks get added as authors, copy post content into a new post, and translate directly in lesson plans and collect the results of the day. The goal will be to completely translate an item, so contributors might want to work in teams.

A Zoom link will be provided on the announcement post and in the #training Slack channel just before the event begins.

Participate in your own time

If you’re unable to join a live WordPress Translation Day global or mini-event, don’t worry! You can still participate. Here are some ideas for projects you can contribute to throughout these few weeks and beyond.

Don’t forget to share what you’re working on!

Feel free to drop a note in #polyglots-events on MakeWordPress Slack or Tweet about your translation using #WPTranslationDay as your hashtag.
