Version 5.5.0 #
Release date: April 18, 2024 #
With WP Data Access version 5.5 we are introducing a new App Builder. The App Builder uses the same Table Builder and Form Builder introduced in version 5.4. If you have already started using the new Data Explorer, you’re already familiar with the new user interface.
The new App Builder contains a Table Builder and a Form Builder which will replace the currently available Tables, Forms and Templates. Instead of building tables, forms and templates, you’ll be building an app containing tables and forms. Apps can be executed on the back-end and front-end. User access is granted in the App Manager, directly available from the App Builder.
The new App Builder does not yet contain all features available in the old tools, but the features that are available are much easier to use and most options are applied to tables and forms in real time. You’ll find some great new features like conditional lookups, a grid driven form builder and an intuitive theme designer. Some features are not yet implemented, like search panes and master-detail relationships. Most missing features will be added in the next months.
Some old features like dynamic hyperlinks and the Search Builder will not be implemented. The new App Builder has a very strong seperation between markup and content. This improves security, but eliminates the possibility to use dynamic hyperlinks as we did in the old tools. Similar functionality will need a different approach in the future.
Please don’t be frustrated if you run into issues with the new App Builder. The introduction of new technology never goes without startup issues. Just let us know how we can help. Our intention is to make the plugin easier to understand, use, maintain and develop. It will be worth the investment, for all of us.

Release date 20,021? LOL
Thanks! 🙂
Looking forward to exploring this…
Thanks for version 5.0
A feature I would love to see is filling out PDF forms from the Database Data. I am currently struggling to teach myself how to do this, and would love an easier way to do it.
Using your databases as an example, it would be like a report card that populates all of its data in certain premade fields rather than in a table.
Good point Jeff! In is on my to do list… 😉
Thanks for your input,
Peter
