• I use the default editor. I used to use the classic editor plugin but I started getting hassles and disabling it fixed them.

So currently I don’t seem to be able to do anything. Can’t do italic or bold or anything. I don’t want much. Would settle for italic and bold but varying font sizes would be really great too. Just something to give my text a little more eye appeal. for me if no one else.

I’ve googled for the best free text editor for wordpress but haven’t been able to get a good result.

so I’ve come to ask the community.

The big thing is it should be solid, reliable and not at all apt to cause problems.

  • WordPress only have two types of editor. i.e., Gutenberg and Classic Editor. Some years ago Gutenberg replaced Classic editor. Classic Editor is still accessible by installing it’s plugin. The plugin works fine for most of the users. You can install Advanced Editor Tools plugin if want to enhance the features of Classic Editor. The plugin is awesome to do things like bold, italic things you mentioned above.

    I use the default editor.

Then there’s likely something wrong with your site that you need to troubleshoot and fix.

If you’d like to go this route to fix your site, first share a screenshot of your editor screen with us so we can better appreciate what you’re dealing with.

Below is what the default editor should look like.
