Hi, we installed the plugin, configured it with our twitter developer account, etc…. But there is an option at plugin that says: Twitter handle (and there is no explanation of what should we include here).

More things we are facing it’s that the option to publish to twitter isn´t at posts / pages, so we think there is something wrong.

We tryed to post and didn´t post at all to twitter.

Could you explain better the way all this works?

    Thank you.

    Hi @ibiza69

The handle is the username for a Twitter account, it starts with @. For example, Bill Gate’s Twitter handle is @billgates

Try reconnecting with the handle and let us know if you’re still facing problems tweeting.

Hi @nomnom99, thanks for the feedback, it really helped to go on configuring your plugin, but when we finish configuring it, we went to test it, posting and it gaved this error: “Failed to Tweet: Error 401: Unauthorized”.

So I think the plugin is not working anymore with Twitter V1 as now they only use the new Twitter V2 version.

Any idea on how to solve this or you are working on an update to have this working back?

    Thanks once more!

    Hi @ibiza69

Once you have updated the plugin to v2.0.0, you will have to migrate to Twitter API v2 by following these steps here.

Yes, thank you. We have last version of your plugin.

And, yesterday we deleted old v1 app and created a new one for v2 at twitter developers and included that information on your app, but doesn´t work for us. What you think we could be doing wrong, your app only asks for those 4 (API, secret API, Token and Secret Token), not for Bearer Token, or Client ID or Client Secret.

    Thank you!

    Hi @ibiza69,

Thank you for sharing the information about your new v2 App. Based on the error message you received, it seems OAuth 1.0a Authentication may not be enabled on your app. Could you please follow these steps and confirm whether it works for you?

    1. Go to the Twitter developer portal
    2. Click on Projects & Apps on the left navigation menu.
    3. Find the App and click it to show the Settings page for the App.
    4. Click “Setup” under User authentication settings to set up Authentication.
    5. Enable OAuth 1.0a and Set App permissions to Read and write.
    6. Set the Website URL and Callback URLs fields to https://yourdomain.yourdomainextension and click Save.
    7. Switch from the “Settings” tab to the “Keys and tokens” tab.
    8. Click on the Generate/Regeneate button in the API Key and Secret section.
    9. Copy the API Key and API Key Secret values and add them to the plugin settings.
    10. Click on the Generate/Regeneate button in the Access Token and Secret section.
    11. Copy the Access Token and Access Token Secret and add them to the plugin settings.

Please let me know if you encounter any further issues.

    Thanks

Thanks for all this explanation, we went all over this you wrote, is exactly created as you say, all of it and doesn´t work.

All options, from 4 to 11 are all done, tested and got same error trying to test the plugin.

Here is the error once more:

    Failed to Tweet
    Error: 401. Unauthorized

I found something, I had the app in staging mode, I’m going to change it to production mode and shall let you know 🙂

Nope, same error changing this config to production mode, directly same 401 unauthorized error…

    Hi @ibiza69,

Thanks for following the steps and testing it out. It’s a bit strange. Just wanted to double-confirm that you are on newly introduced access levels (Free, Basic, etc…). As old access levels (Standard (v1.1), Essential (v2), Elevated (v2)) are deprecated by Twitter and no longer work now. More information.

    Thanks.

Yes, we deleted old app and recreated a new one with this new details, same ones as you wrote us before.

And, we have a Free account at Twitter deveolpers with about 1500 posts per month.

    Thank you!!

If you want, we can send you an email with all screen captures of our configuration, so you can confirm like us, that is all correct from our side, so you can take a look of what could be happenning. But, for this, we would need an email. Thank you for following.

    Hi @ibiza69,

Thanks for the response. Is it possible for you to upload the screen captures to some cloud storage services like cloudup or another service and add links here?

Please let me know if you have any concerns with it.

    Thanks

Hi @dharm1025, I pasting all screen captures here, hopefully wordpress doesn´t block me for sending all this links…. Please, let me know when you see them if all is correct. Thank you once more:

    Hi @ibiza69,

Thanks for sharing all the screenshots. As per this https://imgur.com/KxKixEp screenshot your app is under Elevated access which is deprecated now and no longer works now. You need to migrate the app to new access levels (Free, Basic, Pro, etc…).

You can do it by following the steps below:
    1. Visit URL https://developer.twitter.com/en/portal/products
    2. Downgrade button will be there to migrate to free access.
    3. Click it and check if it works

Please let me know if this works for you.

    Thanks
