The page now only shows a footer, since I’ve hard deleted the old home.

I created a new home page and set it as static home in the reading section

Emptied cache in browser and using W3 chaching plugin

Contacted host to aks if they cache on their servers and they don’t

Home stille keeps bringing up the old home (now only the formerly associated footer), new page not showing.

Copied the new home and tried to set that one as static home. Also no success.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • The Redirection plugin is currently redirecting the homepage to a different URL, so I’m unable to check the actual homepage URL.

If you still need help with this, you need to disable this redirection so we can test the homepage and let you know what may be going on under the hood.

You get multiple redirects via 301 to a blog page /?p=(number), which is not your homepage.

Looks like a problem with your cache plugin. Have you checked your settings, consulted the developer’s FAQ?

Have you tried using another cache plugin, or reinstalling your current one?

@gappiah & @franzstephan I had installed a redirection plugin so visitors would at least be redirected to the correct page. I’ve disabled the redirect now and the problem with the old home page showing up immediately returns.

Hope you are able to help. Thanks in advance!

@franzstephan I installed the W3 cache plugin to help solve this problem. It wasn’t installed when it started occuring.

I understand the rational for these interventions.

But the existence of these bandaids is masking the real problem, making it impossible for us to dig in to help you solve the root problem.

@gappiah what can I do to make it possible for you to dig in?

    I’ve disabled the redirect.

    I’ve disabled the redirect.

    That’s sufficient.

I’ve tested the current homepage, and I don’t think it’s anything to do with the caching plugin.

I suspect it’s a theme issue, specifically your Lay theme’s homepage template or configuration. Unfortunately, the Lay theme is a commercial product, so I’m unable to install it to test anything for you.

To confirm if it’s indeed a theme issue, temporarily switch to the default Twenty Twenty-Four theme… and let’s see if the problem persists or not. You may use the Healthcheck and Troubleshooting plugin to do this so as to not affect the public site: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/

    Standing by for feedback.

Can you check where you got the ‘lay’ theme from? I couldn’t find it on wordpress.org or wordpress.com.

Running alongside plugins like woocommerce and form generators, the theme might run into compatibility issues. If you want to find out, upload the free theme to wordpress.org, and ask someone from the review team to check if they can integrate it into the repository.

A quick Google search shows it’s a commercial theme: https://www.google.com/search?q=lay+wordpress+theme

@gappiah When I activate the twenty-twenty four theme it does seem to pick up the correct home page. Just the title of the page, but still. It does seem to be the Lay theme that’s causing the issue.

Thank you so much for pointing this out both you and @franzstephan I will contact their support next to see if they can resolve this issue. Or else I will switch themes or keep working with a redirect.

Again, thanks for the help guys, much appreciated

New issue: switched themes and switched back and now the entire site seems broken.. Any idea on how to get it back to the suboptimal form it was in?

A member on the LAY theme forum solved the issue: make sure to set the frontpage in customize -> frontpage
