    Hey,

When I click on “Download”, the text changes inside the button from “Download” to “Failed to add user – 400”. Obviously, it doesn’t work and MailChimp list is not updated with the new email.

    Have you ever seen this?

    Thanks

    Hello there,

Thanks for your inquiry. Let’s see how we can help.

Have you entered your MailChimp API key to the under Email Marketing Provider in the Edit Optin Form page?

If yes, do you get a green check mark or a red X mark after entering the API key?

Are you able to select a list from MailChimp within Edit Optin Form page after entering your API key?

Please get back to us with this information and we’ll see what we can do to assist you next.

    Regards,

    Hello again,

In that case, since we cannot replicate this issue in our local installation of WordPress and we have no other reports of this issue from our other users so far, this might be an issue unique to your installation possibly caused by a theme or plugin conflict.

We need to find out what is causing the conflict in order to be able to sort out this issue.

To search for conflicts, please follow these steps.

    1. First please deactivate all plugins except [Plugin] and see if the issue persists.
    2. If the issue is resolved, reactivate your plugins one by one to see if the issue returns.
    3. If no conflict is found among your plugins, try reverting to a default WP theme like ‘Twenty Sixteen’, or ‘Twenty Seventeen’, and see if the issue is resolved.

    Head here for detailed instructions:
    https://fatcatapps.com/knowledge-base/search-for-conflicts/

If you find a conflict with a plugin or theme, please let us know the name of the software and we will see if we can release a patch for it if it’s a popular one.

None of those steps solved the problem so Im guessing it’s a problem with your plugin. There actually are a few others experiencing the same thing. Check this link: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/failed-to-add-user-400-2/

    1. First please deactivate all plugins except [Plugin] and see if the issue persists.
    – Okay deactivated all but OptinCat and it didn’t solve the problem

    2. If the issue is resolved, reactivate your plugins one by one to see if the issue returns.
    – hmmm….

    3. If no conflict is found among your plugins, try reverting to a default WP theme like ‘Twenty Sixteen’, or ‘Twenty Seventeen’, and see if the issue is resolved.
    – This didn’t work either.

Did you figure anything out? This is stalling a few projects…

    Hello there,

    Sorry for the late reply.

We’re stuck on this one. Since we cannot replicate this issue in our local installation of WordPress or in our staging live site, this issue must be something unique to your installation which should be caused by a theme or plugin conflict.

The best advice I could give right now is to contact MailChimp to see if there are any issues with their API relating to your account.

I apologize we could not help much in this case.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    I tried all means,
    like
    deactivate plugins
    change theme
    but couldnt find the solution.

And another issue is, when I fixed the width, its still showing small in size.

Do you have still any other option to do?

    Thank you

I just installed this plugin today and I am having the exact same issue. My API key works, I can select the list, etc. But when someone fills out the form, they get “failed to add user – 400′. The subscribers page states “failed to add to mailchimp [400]”

When I check the API calls on MailChimps site, I see:

    Result – X
The requested resource could not be found.

    Result – X
    Your merge fields were invalid.

    Hi,

I’m having the same issue. I have tried all the steps mentioned above but it is still not validating the API. It shows a red cross.

    Please help.

    Thanks

    Same issue here.

API works fine, green lights where required – plugin live on the site.

Some users are successfully added to Mailchimp list, but 95% of the time, I experience ‘X – Failed to add user – 400’

I’m not in a position to change Themes as I don’t want to risk any deeper issues, as I have customised the Theme’s CSS in places. I would prefer this problem to be fixed on your plugin, as a few users are clearly experiencing this issue.

Please let me know what a remedy might be, or if anyone can recommend a better plugin, I’d happily look at others.

The theme I’m using is ‘Eventim’ the URL is https://london.fastforward.xyz and you’ll find the form at the bottom of each page. try it, and see if it works for you.

    Hello,
I had this same problem, it happened this way:
I built the form with the “double opt-in” option enabled.
When I deactivated the “double opt-in” option and tried to register an email in the form, the message “failed to add user 400”
Then, I activated the “double opt-in” option and the registration was approved.
I’m using the Superb LandingPages template on the form page.
    ———————-
    I did another test:
I built another form, but this time with the option “double opt-in” turned off, I could not register the user, when I turned on the option, the registration can be done.

    I hit this problem too.

In my case the problem was that the email addresses I was using to test with had generic prefixes like ‘info@’ and ‘hello@’. When I tried with a personal email address it worked just fine.

Worth checking before you go through deactivating all your plugins etc.

    Hello All,

I also got this problem. In my case, the list had Firstname field set as required in the MailChimp, whereas I only placed an email address in my website. So I disabled the required and it works.
