Entire functions.php was cleared after trying to add some code in theme editor

    I tried adding a code that (to rename default email sender name and address of the website) in wordpress theme editor and when I clicked save there was some error saying something about SFTP, but like a stoop I clicked on save again and my entire functions got cleared, everything was deleted, with all the codes I’ve invested in it the last year. Then I logged into cpanel fie manager and found it completely empty there as well. What can I do?

    you don’t have backup? if you have backup, then can copy the functions.php files code and past into your theme functions.php file and save.

    no, unfortunately i don’t have backup ;(

    Ask your hosting provider if they have backup of your site from before the issue.

    If they do, ask them to restore it.

    Backup: In the future, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!
