    Help!

So, I’ve been at this for three days and I still can’t figure out how to translate the simple “Read Me” button in Dynamic News Lite. I’ve tried both Loco Translate and Poedit, read the instructions, and it still doesn’t work. I’ve contacted the theme developer (ThemeZee) who say that it IS possible to translate the “Read More” button using .mo and .po files.

I’ve set the language in wordpress to the one I use (Danish) and am translating the theme in danish… still, no translations load on my site. From reading a few articles I figure that it’s possible that wordpress can’t find my translation files. I’ve renamed them appropriately, tried to put them in every thinkable proper folder, deleted other .mo and .po files to make sure it doesn’t load them instead. Still nothing.

I’m a second away from deleting every damn language file I can find in my wordpress installation leaving only the translated files in the hope that wordpress will accept them. 🙂

Any advice would be most appreciated. 🙂

    Hejsan! How about the translation?

I do not know how much WordPress you master, but there are solutions for almost everything. I use so-called Child Themes (C T), which means I take control of some designs that the current theme can not offer. The biggest advantage of C T is that your modifications do not disappear when the theme is updated. In your C T you usually start with a style.css and a functions.php. In functions.php you can enter a code for “Modify The Read More Link Text”. Here are a few useful codes: https://codex.wordpress.org/Customizing_the_Read_More. Be sure to save original php files so that you can switch back via FTP if it goes to hell.

Is it too advanced, depending on where the Read More button should be, maybe use a plugin to make it easier to change the text of the button. If you have the excerpt on the front, I can recommend Content Views.

I have stopped working with translations, .mo and .po files. It rarely worked as I wanted. It seemed as if I did not really understand how I would handle. Perhaps I will prioritize it one day.

If you speak of a Danish page, I suppose you working with another than http://nicnotes.net/ that you run on Norén’s Lowecraft theme.

If someone in the forum can look at it from outside, maybe you can get some handy tips.

    Ha det grejt! Dag

    Hi there,

I really recommend to use Loco Translate. It will take care of everything and create the correctly named language files in the correct folders.

You can download it on https://wordpress.org/plugins/loco-translate/

I suggest to use the /loco/languages/ folder for saving your translations. That way, they are not overridden by any WordPress updates.

    Best,
    Thomas
