Hello, another admin has given me admin privileges to edit a blog on our website but when I go to login using wp-admin in the address bar, it just reloads and redirects me to the primary website and does not direct me to any sort of dashboard view or access ability to make edits to the blog.

That’s not default WordPress behavior, and not something that can be done in WordPress as-is. Even the Subscriber role is taken to the Dashboard after login, where they can only edit their profile.

There are a number of plugins like https://wordpress.org/plugins/remove-dashboard-access-for-non-admins/ which modify that behavior in the manner you’re describing.

Please have the other admin attempt to deactivate all plugins. If the problem goes away, re-activate them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

Try using another option to login, for example /wp-login, or /wp-login.php.

You can also check back with your admin whether the requested privileges were already granted, or have been inadvertently removed.

Thanks Franz, I tried the first two options /wp-login and /wp-login.php already. Will check with him if those privileges are granted and get back to you.

Still the same issue @franzsetphan – the admin who has edit access changed the privileges so that I have admin / edit access but still redirects me to the main website every time I login.

Oh ok, so you’re dealing with custom privileges, that complicates things.

I recommend having the primary admin compare their privileges to yours to see where the differences lie, since they are definitely capable of logging in.
