News: BSIA UPDATES CYBER EXPOSURE MITIGATION CODE OF PRACTICE The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has updated its manufacturers’ code of practice on the design, testing and manufacture of safety and security products with cyber exposure, aligning it with major new UK legislation.   Manufacturers of safety and security systems: Cybersecurity code of practice is based on international industry best practice regarding cybersecurity, and refers to recognised guidance and standards applied to safety and security systems. 🆕 New UK #cybersecurity legislation, the PSTI Act comes into full effect today 29 April is an important date for #IoT manufacturers and those selling connected devices in the UK. The new and world-leading law regulating IoT products is known as the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act 2022 - #PSTI. It was enacted into law in April 2023 and had a 12-month grace period. The UK Government has enacted a new #cybersecurity law (effective from 29 April 2024) governing the sale of smart devices. The law means manufacturers must ensure that all their smart devices meet basic cyber security requirements. This law applies to all organisations importing or retailing products for the UK market. If not, they will face a fine of ￡10 million or 4% of global revenue, whichever is greater. Bravo! 👏 Finally cybersecurity regulation with real teeth to bite for non-compliance.

Great to see the UK Governments new Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) regulation come into action, forcing manufacturers of internet enabled devices to follow new requirements around cyber security.
