We are delighted to announce that our joint venture with Asia Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) has been appointed by the Highways Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government to conduct investigation, design and associated site investigation works for the first smart and green mass transit system in East Kowloon. This new transit system will connect over 300,000 residents to nearby MTR stations and major public transport interchanges, greatly improving connectivity and easing traffic congestion in the area. Diverse expertise is essential due to the complexity of the project, and we are uniquely positioned to provide multidisciplinary services across design, construction, operation, maintenance and procurement. The project will involve extensive site investigation works due to the challenging terrain. We look forward to leveraging our extensive experience in managing complex projects, cross-sector expertise and international perspectives to contribute to this endeavour, significantly enhancing accessibility for the local community by implementing sustainable and innovative transport solutions. A competitive rail sector that can seamlessly cross national borders and carry more passengers and freight is a major goal across Europe, with ambitious plans to triple high-speed rail across the continent by 2050. But how do we make it happen? Our Global Rail Leader, Chew TC, FREng, wrote for Euronews on how to boost rail as the go-to form of travel over more carbon-intensive alternatives such as short-haul flights, by building in resilience to climate change and improving the experience for individual passengers. The world’s widest full-floating multi-tower cable-stayed bridge, the Fengyi Bridge, is now open in Xi’an, China. Stretching over 526m and 57m wide, the bridge accommodates a 5-lane dual carriageway, providing a vital transportation link for the region. The bridge also offers pedestrian and bicycle paths, doubling as viewing platforms. Leveraging our international expertise, we provided total design services for this project, from architecture and landscape to structural design. Our innovative solutions ensure that the bridge not only stands tall with its striking 95m mono-pole towers but also blends harmoniously into the natural environment with its fan-shaped cable system.
