Critical Mass Qorvex | General SP Crucible Blast Nuke

General Use Steel Path/Endurance Qorvex build focusing on Crucible Blast to nuke the map. Crucible blast requires both grouping and armor strip for maximum DPS/KPM potential. Armor strip can be achieved via helminth (eg Pillage/Tharros Strike/Terrify) or [Helios] ([Vicious Bond] with [Deconstructor]). Containment wall gives suboptimal grouping, with better grouping achievable via helminth (e.g. Airburst, Larva, Pull, Coil Horizon), [Nautilus] ([Cordon] with [Manifold Bond]) or Magus Anomaly spam.

UPDATE JUNE 2024
The new augment for Containment Wall will now allow it to full strip at 200% strength while also refreshing Chyrinka Pillars. Empty slot is for the new augment.

PLAYSTYLE

  1. For stationary missions (eg survival): Tap 1 to plant two Chyrinka Pillars and keep active whenever one wears off. You want the Pillars to occupy separate areas to cover the largest possible area, but be within line of sight so you can hit them both with your 4.
  2. Tap 3 to cast Disometric Guard for status immunity
  3. Tap 2 to group enemies in a line and apply radiation procs with Containment Wall
  4. Tap 4 and try to focus the beam groups or lines of enemies as well as simultaneously hitting a Chyrinka pillar (hitting a pillar empowers it for 5s, allowing it's pulses to inherit the chain reactions of Crucible Blast). Hitting the Pillar basically allows you to damage any enemies within the range of Pillar but without actually aiming at them with the beam. Try to hit both Pillars in each beam.

SURVIVABILITY

Active Playstyle with Shield Gating for Endurance
Equipping [Catalyzing Shields] drops base shields from 300 down to 60. This means you only need to regenerate 60 shields using [Brief Respite] to regain your 1.33s shield gate that you gain upon losing max shields. [Brief Respite] alone allows Crucible Blast to generate exactly 60 shield on a single cast while at 160% efficiency.

Casual EHP Tanking
Since [Qorvex] has a very high base armor rating, he is able to casual tank Starchart and base SP (< level 300) somewhat. You will want to slot an armor mod (e.g. [Umbral Fiber] or [Steel Fiber]). [Umbral Fiber] adds 1137 additional armor (compared to say 900 from [Guardian] or 1350 from [Health Conversion] at max stacks), but will probably require an Umbral Forma to fit and you will need to drop [Augur Reach]. You can also swap [Catalyzing Shields] out for [Adaptation] as well as Molt Efficiency out for Arcane Blessing. This will give final stats of 1900 health, 2012 armor and 90% damage reduction potentially, for a final EHP of 146,427. For reference, a full tank [Inaros] has 800k EHP and a regular [Grendel] tank build has about 300k ehp while [Citrine] and [Trinity] sit can around 2 million EHP.

BUILD SPECIFICS

Duration
Chyrinka Pillar has a base duration of 35s so having a bit of negative duration still gives over 20s duration. Duration doesn't affect 2 or 4.

Efficiency
Crucible Blast is your main nuke and costs 100 energy at base, and [Qorvex] does not have innate energy [Regen]. This means in order to spam 4 for DPS, you will want high efficiency and a decent source of energy e.g Grimoire Xata Invocation, Equilibrium + Diriga/Panzer/[Helios] with [Synth Deconstruct] OR [Primed Flow] + Arcane Energize + [Dethcube] with [Energy Generator], whichever you prefer. You can use [Streamline] to hit 130% and then use [Seismic Bond] on a sentinel to get a free 30% efficiency to hit 160%. This is because [Seismic Bond] activates whenever you use Crucible Blast while your sentinel deals damage.

Range
Range affects the radius of 1 as well as the range of 2 and 4. We want to maximise this.

Strength
Strength most importantly affects the damage of 4 and the damage vulnerability of 2. Containment wall augment requires 200% strength to full strip in one cast. You can further use external sources like Madurai (+40%), Zenurik (+20%), [Grimoire] (+60%) if you like.

Aura
[Brief Respite] is used for shield gating, which in combination with [Catalyzing Shields], allows each cast of 4 to refill 60 shields which fully resets the 1.33s shield gate.
Other good options include [Growing Power], [Corrosive Projection], [Enemy Radar].
If you DON'T have aura forma to use, simply slot something like [Physique] that fits default polarity for now.

Exilus
Completely flexible for power drift, cunning drift etc. Since 3 makes you status/knockdown immune, you will not need [Primed Sure Footed] either unless you subsume over it.

Arcanes
Molt Augmented provides free 60% strength after 250 kills
Molt Efficiency provides free duration with shields active
Arcane Energize is optional for energy economy

If you don't have [Precision Intensify], just use [Umbral Intensify].

HELMINTH

Subsuming over Containment Wall will be the most likely option (but subject to change):

Armor Strip
This will allow Crucible Blast to SCALE in steel path since it does not bypass armor and just deals raw radiation damage.

  • Pillage: Works well with low duration and high range, but requires a bit more strength to full strip in a single cast (328%) + corrosive projection.
  • Terrify: Only requires 167% strength to full strip in a single cast
  • Tharros Strike: Only requires 200% strength to full strip in a single cast and has a frontal area of effect.
  • Fireblast: Requires two casts to full strip

Grouping
This will allow Crucible Blast to hit MORE enemies and each enemy hit can affect MORE enemies surrounding them (although we can offload this to Nautilus)

Energy
If you still feel energy is an issue, you can use an energy helminth to help with energy upkeep

  • Dispensary: Gives empowered health orb which can be converted to energy via equilibrium.
  • Nourish: Gives viral damage to weapons, viral status AOE on taking damage and multiplies energy, but not ideal on a low duration build.

Crowd Control/Other

  • Breach Surge: Blinds eximus through overguard, damage and kills releases sparks which deal radiation which is sort of thematic for Qorvex
  • Silence: Blocks eximus abilities, acolyte abilities and the 2s stun from silence is multiplied by the slow from 1
