Another year is starting, and it’s time to set our team goals again! In a similar fashion to last year, we’ll be hosting two synchronous sessions to brainstorm ideas. Anyone is welcome to join either of these sessions.

Before attending, please take some time to review the Training Team’s Team Values. These are our shared values that form the foundation of all we set out to achieve.

The Zoom link will be shared in the #training Slack channel 5 minutes before each session starts. The video recording and outcomes from each session will also be posted below for asynchronous conversation.

Discuss the 2024 vision
- Ben shared Data Liberation in 2024 – “Learn WordPress Initiative” Learn is one of the main ways that we can bring people into the WordPress community.
- Making content and document translation easier to accomplish “Build with me section” – hour to 1.5 hour session where we take people through an instructed video that leads them to a tangible outcome
- Being aware of new technologies and not shying away from using them
- Create a cycle with Learn WordPress of going from Learner -> Teacher
Vision for 2024:

Shift Learn WordPress from theory to outcome/project-based learning, explore new streamlining technologies, improve team processes and increase global community/contributor engagement.

Review our 2023 goals to see if anything needs to be pulled forward

Keep
- Plan promotions with the Marketing Team → be more specific → Plan promotions with the Marketing Team / Community Team
- Create a Marketing Campaign for Learning Pathways with Marketing
- Work with the Community team to promote Learning Pathways at Meetups
Establish monthly recurring onboarding Online Workshops in different timezones for training team roles
- Create a signup sheet for specific online workshop sessions
Get involved with the redesign work happening on Learn → See Learn redesign to completion with Learning Pathways as the focus

Stretch goal
Figure out a method to manage localized content translation
Jonathan made a systems request to get access to a local site to try testing adding translation plugins

Remove
- Test out a course creation cohort method that will work as a group to create one course together.
- Once we have more content creators on board who have submitted a good amount of work, it’ll be easier to gather a group

Noting a conversation started in MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. around setting up a new section in one’s WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ profile to list completed courses. A TracTrac Trac is the place where contributors create issues for bugs or feature requests much like GitHub.https://core.trac.wordpress.org/. ticket was started for this: https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7411

Training’s contribution to the code to make that happen would be very limited. But this is something that would add value to the launch of Learning Pathways, giving folks a way to easily check and share their progress with others.

Sustainability is also planning some projects around do_action, with an invitation for Training to get involved.   I should clarify to say that while Sustainability Team (members) are contributing to the above projects (for the most part owned/managed by other teams) it’s main role is to explore and enable options for funding community projects, teams, working groups, and contributors.
