  • @paaljoachim has made a Make WordPress Design post in relation to an easier method of testing Gutenberg Pull Requests. One does not need a local dev environment setup, but instead just to download a special GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party that includes the PR.
  • Daylight saving time changes to meetings. In Marketing we moved over to new arrangements from January 2021 in response to surveys. We know people are still struggling with meeting times due to the impact of Covid.  We have dates set for the rest of the year, but will review this again in November.
  • Potentially dropping IE11 support in the core editor. This is being discussed including the impact of those using screen readers with IE11. If anyone has comments on this or data, please join the discussion or message @nalininonstopnewsuk if you have an accessibility issue.
  • WordPress 5.7 Field Guide is available to help people prepare for the release. If you can help suggest  questions and answers for non tech users, please let @OGlekler and @webcommsat know.
  • Leave your feedback on the second call on testing for Full Site Editing. You can also share the promotional message thanks to @lmurillom and @annezazu on the WordPress Marketing Teams’s Linkedin channel
  • If your Meetup could benefit from helping people better understand and use BlockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. Patterns, or you would be able to test some of the work on this, please let @MegPhillips91 know.
  • The first Thursday coffee break of every month is devoted to a marketing and communications topic. If you have an expertise in a particular aspect of theory or practice, and would be interested in sharing your knowledge, please let @webcommsat and @lmurillom know.
