At Buildcon’s feedback form, we asked an open-ended question about which piece of content resonated the most after the conference. Private investors, angels, and angel clubs have invested approximately $5 billion in Israeli tech companies in 2015-2023. Following the hype of prolific investments, private investors also accelerated their capital infuse in 2020-2022. According to IVC Data and Insights, the downtrend started in 2023 with an increase of 36%. The total investments by private investors dropped to $321 million in 612 deals, compared to $898 million in 1387 deals in 2022. The slump continues to 2024, and by mid-July, the total was just $42 million in 242 deals. Over the past decade, I have reviewed over 1,000 cv's in search for the best team members to join our team. I see a lot of people in Israel in need of jobs these days so sharing some tips from my experience as a manager and Organizational Psychologist that I hope can be helpful. If you have any questions or additional insights, please feel free to comment below or pm me. I divided the job-seeking journey into 4 stages: 1. Self-reflection 2. CV building 3. Networking 4. “Dating” your future boss In this post I will cover some pointers for the first 3 stages. Next post will cover pointers for the last stage. *Self-reflection* 1. Self-reflection and understanding what you are good at and what you are passionate about. 2. Who are you - Need to be able to answer this in 2-3 lines at the top of the CV. Are you a manager and looking to be in a leadership role or more of a hands-on executive? Is your focus marketing/sales/coding/project management? Pro tip: Ask your friends to be honest with you and share the value they see you bring. It will crystalize your own view as well. *CV and LinkedIn profile* 1. CV building - how does your future boss know you are great at what you do? What success and impact did you have that you can articulate with numbers? 2. The design is great. But the most important is the content. Make sure clear description in the header what you do and keep it short, with bullet points and a 1-pager. Make sure no mistakes. If there is even 1 typo, it is a no-go. 3. Passion talks. Years ago I hired a young man with very little experience because he came with great passion and told me how he taught himself code at age 11. See how you can find that story that highlights your greatness. *Networking* 1. Networking and asking friends for an intro or to put in a good word. Identify 10 people you will have coffee with to brainstorm your career. Some will give you great advice. Others will give you a good lead. 2. Don't only think about networking with those who can give you the job today but rather with those who know people that can help you. 3. The best way to build trust is to show your work in action. I once hired someone because he reached out and explained to me in a loom video why one of my client websites stinked and how that can be fixed. He didn't tell me what he does but showed me. What tips have you found as a manager that you would give future employees?

A week ago today I took the stage at Content Israel as a key speaker. I transparently shared in a room with over 300 fellow marketers that the first thing my CEO always asks me when we brainstorm a new campaign or program is, “Jen, what’s your content distribution plan?” 7 days and 3 hours to the dot, Daniel Kushner 🐙 asked me to provide my content distribution plan for one of our latest customer programs ( side note: super excited to launch, it's still top secret, so do stay tuned) And you know what was front and center as part of that distribution plan? #EmployeeAdvocacy. Why? Because when you understand how to use employee networks to distribute your content you crack the code in making sure your content is seen by the right people, from the right people in your organization. You create meaningful and personalized customer journeys. You stay true to what social media was intended for-- being social, and build a people-to-people connection. You use the authentic voices of your employees to share the content you’ve worked so hard to create ensuring that your content sees the light of day, you get the credit you deserve, and you can measure the actual engagement and reach of that content far beyond your corporate profile. And most importantly, you build meaningful relationships and can understand what content was used to help build them... So my question to you is, do you include #EmployeeAdvocacy as part of your distribution plan? Sharing my slide on my thought process on how to use advocacy to build meaningful customer journeys if some may find it helpful.

In recent years, there has been a significant decrease in the number of women serving as CEOs or chairpersons of public companies in Israel. While women constituted 8.1% of CEOs in the Israeli market in 2018, this figure dropped to just 3.5% in 2023. We all understand the importance of #diversity and gender #equality in the industry, but how can we actively contribute to it? One of the key organizations in this field is ProWoman Organization, which works to promote and encourage women in the workforce to develop meaningful careers in leadership and influential roles, collaborating with major global corporations, including #INVIDIA. Today, we are supporting the organization's efforts, and we are proud of Poalim Tech's CEO, Michal Kissos Hertzog, who is joining the association's board of directors, along with Keren Terner from Vintage Investment Partners.
