Recently, colleagues from our Zurich office participated in the Zoo Zürich Weltklasse run.     The event was a short 2.5 km run inside the Zurich Zoo in benefit of the "Kaeng Krachan" nature conservation project in Thailand. The Kaeng Krachan National Park works towards the protection of wild elephants and their habitat.      Our #philanthropy program at AXIS concentrates on supporting causes that align with our Corporate Citizenship focus areas of Climate and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). AXIS is very proud to announce that Billy Smith, CBA has been appointed Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion & Internal Mobility at AXIS.     Billy is a passionate advocate for DEI both within AXIS and beyond, serving as a charter member of our DEI Council and co-chair of the Pride Employee Resource Group.     He succeeds Gail Wien who retired from AXIS earlier this year – and we extend our deep appreciation to Gail for all that she did to grow our DEI strategy and programming, in partnership with our DEI Council and Employee Resource Groups.     Reflecting on his appointment, Billy shared:   “When I started my career in insurance, it wasn’t common for someone in the LGBTQ+ space to be open about their life. I often felt unable to contribute to my full potential. Now, in this new role, I feel as though I’ve come full circle.
