The Report is a nonprofit, nonpartisan digital news organization. With the support of our members, our quality, in-depth journalism is free. We publish without any obligation to outside owners or interests.

We cover all that is best about Fort Worth and Tarrant County: its personalities, neighborhoods, businesses, arts & culture, education, health and local government accountability. We tackle its problems and challenges, too, and spotlight solutions.

The Report began in April 2021 with a small staff focused on solutions journalism and filling in the gaps in coverage. As we continue to grow, we focus on finding excellent staff members who want to report and write relevant and impactful stories that shed light on important issues.

Fellowships: Our fellowship program provides aspiring journalists the opportunity to sharpen their reporting and multimedia skills and to learn with our exceptional news team. We are a nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization with an emphasis on free, fair and local news. We are now searching for the best candidates for our fall 2024 and spring 2025 programs.

Freelance writers and photographers

Opportunity: We’re seeking freelance journalists to pitch us stories and photographs for publication in the Report. We’re interested in stories that impact our local audiences and that fall under the general categories of government, business, education, arts & culture, health care, environment and civic engagement. We are not seeking commentary or opinion pieces. We are particularly interested in stories that are revelatory, data-driven, contextual and solutions-driven. All content is subject to editing and fact-checking prior to publication. Freelancers are not considered W2 eligible employees and are not eligible for benefits. Contracts will include a conflicts of interest statement and signing the SPJ Code of Ethics. Apply here.
