The last day for New York City Public School students is Wednesday, June 26. While that is nearly two months away, it’s not too early for parents to begin planning for their kid’s summer.

Here’s a list of unique summer camp ideas worth checking out:

Maritime College has Maritime Adventure Camps. Campers get to go sailing, learn to operate a powerboat, learn about marine science, and kids over 10 even earn their New York Boating Safety Certificate.

The Trail Blazers Day Camp at Brooklyn Bridge Park offers families weekly rates based on income. The day is spent outdoors and includes skill-building, art, science, and garden activities, unstructured play and more.

Figure Skating in Harlem is open to rising first through eight grade girls and has education and leadership classes, health and wellness, fitness and, of course- figure skating!

Locals Surf Camp has both morning, afternoon and full-day options for kids interested in surfing. Learn to surf, participate in beach games, fun activities, and more.

School of Rock also has themed camps that change each week. The week of July 15th, they will have a Beatles camp at their Queens location. Campers will take a deep dive into the work of the Beatles to learn and perform their music.

The Brooklyn Acting Lab has themed weekly camps. They have improv and sketch comedy, a Harry Potter mini-musical, and kids can even create a Taylor Swift-themed musical one of the weeks between late June to early August.

Finally, the Riverdale Stables offers a summer camp where kids get riding lessons, learn horsemanship, and enjoy other games and activities.
