📣 NEWS: SCHOTT hosts the next generation of high-powered, snack-motivated innovators Tuesday, July 16th: Hosting its inaugural "Bring Your Kid to Work" event, our colleagues recently welcomed eight enthusiastic children, ages 2 to 8, to SCHOTT US headquarters in Rye Brook, NY. The event was a great opportunity for the kids to get a meaningful glimpse into their parents' workplace, learn about the innovative world of #glass and other advanced materials, and gain valuable, first-hand experience on the pitfalls of free office snacks and spinning chairs. 😉🍕 With plans to continue this tradition in the years to come, the Rye Brook office remains committed to fostering a family-friendly workplace that celebrates both professional excellence and personal joy.

♻️ Exciting news from one of our #CircularEconomy pilot projects: Together with Sanofi, we have successfully returned unused #glass vials to our tubing production. To meet our ambitious #sustainability goals, we are pursuing efficient resource use and circular economy approaches. The rarer and more energy-intensive a material, the more critical it is to use it wisely. The solution lies in creating closed material cycles. In pharmaceutical production, this must be balanced with high-quality requirements. 🤝 Together with Sanofi, we have tested this in a unique pilot project. For the first time, we returned unused #pharmaceutical primary packaging made of our FIOLAX® borosilicate glass tubing from health company Sanofi back to the glass melt. This example helped us to learn how to turn the supply chain around, establish necessary processes, and address quality and cost aspects. 🚀 This initiative is a courageous step towards a more sustainable future, and we are excited about its positive impact. Experts are already working on the next step, focusing on pharma glass packing that has been in contact with medicines.

Just in: We’re thrilled to announce that Marcus Knoebel has been appointed as our new #CFO effective September 1, 2024! 🎉 Marcus brings a wealth of experience and an operational perspective to his new role, having successfully led our Advanced Optics business unit and served as the site manager at our HQ in Mainz. His deep understanding of our company's culture, as well as commercial and operational dynamics, make him the perfect fit to drive our financial strategy and growth. As our CFO, he will oversee Finance, Purchasing, Information Technology, and Mergers & Acquisitions, ensuring that we continue to innovate as a leader in the specialty glass industry. It’s very important for our Board of Management to visit our key growth regions, which is why our Board member Heinz Kaiser recently visited the team in Duryea, PA: This site is our American R&D center and the hub for our advanced optics manufacturing in the Americas. During his visit, Heinz engaged with customers and colleagues to better understand their needs and discuss new opportunities in the US. The key takeaway: It’s all about strengthening partnerships, investing in cutting-edge technology, and adapting to a dynamic market. Our new logistics center complies with sustainable building standards, fulfilling the highest standards in terms of light, ventilation, and safety. These features maintain the integrity and quality of our glass tubing, which is essential to safely store and deliver #pharmaceuticals.
