The internet has been buzzing about Mercedes Mone’s possible landing spot following the end of her contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling. It appears that AEW is her most likely landing spot, with a possible debut date already set.

Mone is one of the biggest names in wrestling, male or female, and is one of the few who have managed to branch out of the squared circle, joining John Cena, Dave Bautista, and The Rock in Hollywood. A recurring character in Star Wars’ hit TV show The Mandalorian, The Boss is ready to return to the ring, and she looks set to become All Elite.

Is Mercedes Mone really joining AEW?

According to reports by trusted wrestling journalists, yes, Mercedes Mone is really joining All Elite Wrestling. Although no one has confirmed that Mone has signed her AEW contract just yet, Fightful confirmed that sources they’ve spoken to “expect her to land in AEW,” and that they were “close to agreeing on terms, if they hadn’t already.”

In fact, Fightful reported that one source suggested something massive would need to happen to stop her from appearing on an episode of Dynamite or Collision in the not-too-distant future.

Mercedes had been in discussions with WWE, where she spent ten years as Sasha Banks, about a return, but conversations reportedly ended back in December.

When is Mercedes Mone’s AEW debut?

While nothing has been confirmed, Mercedes Mone is widely expected to debut on Wednesday, March 13 at AEW Big Business, emanating from her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.

In a promotional image shown on AEW Dynamite, fans noticed a number of dollar signs on the screens of the TD Garden, along with the word “Bo$$ton,” a reference to her “Boss” nickname. Some have suggested that Big Business could see a second debut that night, pointing out that the money signs could also point to “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada, who is known to drop money with his face on it on crowds in Japan.

Possible AEW matches for Mercedes Mone

One of the most exciting things about Mone joining AEW is the plethora of new match-ups she could have. Mone will be featured as one of the biggest, if not the biggest, stars in the company’s women’s division, so expect her to lock up with AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm, and current #1 Contender Deonna Purazzo.

Hikaru Shida, RIHO, and Mariah May all make sense too, considering they have all worked in Japan like Mone did, while there are some old WWE connections too, with Saraya and Ruby Soho now plying their trade in All Elite Wrestling.

For me though, there’s one dream match I want to see, and that’s Mercedes Mone squaring off against a fully healed Jamie Hayter. If she’s ready, there’s a free match for AEW All In at Wembley Stadium in August, Tony Khan. You’re welcome.
