The old hierarchical paradigm of organizations has reached its expiry date. But what to replace it with? These are the three breakthroughs for reinventing your organization. In his book Reinventing Organizations, Frederic Laloux lays out a refreshing and important perspective of the organization of the future. Core to this perspective are what he calls three breakthroughs: Self Management, Wholeness, and Evolutionary Purpose. This is what they mean: SELF-MANAGEMENT Organized based on autonomy and peer relationships instead of top-down hierarchy, making everyone in the organization powerful. • Decentralized and shared responsibility within a unit • No boss to report to, but leader that is coach and facilitator • Limited staff functions, mostly done by people themselves • Horizontal, peer to peer communication and alignment • Attention to local context, differences and needs • Advice process: anyone can decide, but after asking advice • Trust instead of control, treating people as responsible adults WHOLENESS Organized based on treating people as a whole, including their non-professional, emotional, intuitive, spiritual and aspirational parts. • Don’t reduce people to “walking hands” or “talking heads” • Make use of people’s full potential • Combine rationality with intuition and emotion • Embrace individuality, differences, and aspirations • Develop real, rich relationships • Create a safe and open working environment • Make work more like home EVOLUTIONARY PURPOSE Organized based on the idea of an organization as a living organism with a direction of its own, instead of following dictated and predefined goals based on prediction and control. • Treat organizations as living systems, not as machines • No predefined goals, direction emerges • Replace predict and control by sense and response • Get out the way and let the organization unfold • Listen and pay attention • Let people discover the organization’s purpose together • Focus on identity instead of targets In each of these three breakthroughs, the devil is in the details and in applying them throughout your organization. Self-management isn’t simply delegation or laissez-faire leadership. Wholeness isn’t simply creating a gym or having plants at the office. Evolutionary purpose isn’t simply having a mission, vision or purpose. No, fully embracing these three breakthroughs implies a fundamental shift in how we lead, manage and organize the organizations we work for.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲: 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 Have you ever felt a knot in your stomach when faced with a daunting challenge at work? Or hesitated to seize an opportunity because you weren’t entirely sure of yourself? I’ve been there too, and I’m sure many of you can relate. #Courage is one of those elusive leadership values that we all admire but often struggle to develop. The good news? It’s a value we can cultivate over time. I recently read an article from Harvard Business Review titled "𝑪𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆" by Christie Hunter Arscott, and it changed my perspective on how to foster courage in our lives. 𝙆𝙚𝙮 𝙇𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙💡: Self-doubt is a universal experience. Yet, successful leaders manage to thrive by focusing on courage rather than confidence. They take bold steps forward even when they feel unsure, using courage as their guiding star. Over time, this approach not only helps them achieve their goals but also naturally builds their confidence. 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝘿𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚💡: 1️⃣ 𝙈𝙞𝙘𝙧𝙤 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚: Ever thought a small step wouldn’t make a difference? Think again! Small acts, like speaking up in a meeting or trying something new outside your comfort zone, can snowball into significant personal growth. Over time, these micro acts add up, making you braver and more resilient. 2️⃣ 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝘼𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨: Not ready to take the plunge at work? Start small in your personal life. Join a new fitness class, say no to something that drains your energy, or make an effort to meet new people. These actions can help you build a courageous mindset that spills over into your professional life. 3️⃣ 𝙏𝙧𝙮 𝘼𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙏𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬: Remember, courage doesn’t have to be loud. Sometimes, it’s that quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow." Persistence is key. Each new day offers a fresh chance to face challenges and push your boundaries a little further. 𝙌𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙔𝙤𝙪 ❓: 𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑤𝑒 𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑠𝑚𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑎𝑔𝑒 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑜 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑑𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑦 𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑢𝑖𝑙𝑑 𝑎 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑓𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑠𝑒𝑡? 💪 Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. When they tell you Graphology is a pseudoscience.... The Wall Street Journal (Tuesday 3 September 1985) – “Every time we hired somebody who seemed good but didn’t do well in the handwriting analysis, he failed within six months,” adds Hughes de la Taille, the deputy managing director of Matra Horlogerie, the watchmaking division SA industrial giant. “The handwriting analysis of one salesman came back with the word ‘unstable’ underlined, but he was the best candidate and we hired him anyway,” the official recalls. “A month later, he just walked off, and we had to call in the police to get back our samples collection.” The Wall Street Journal (Thursday 25 August 1988) – Some managers use the analysis, along with interviews and reference checks, to spot workers whose personal problems may become company problems ... “It’s the most reliable method of assessing personality,” a director of human resources at Land O’Frost, Inc. asserts. Forbes “It is not unusual for European companies to have full-time handwriting analysts on staff to help personnel officers read between the lines. The Press Democrat (Monday 16 December 1996) – “It is probably the strongest & most effective recruiting tool I have ever encountered,” said one senior vice president of human resources at a well-known Californian bank. “We do not do psychological testing because this, remarkably, gives us enough data.” Security Management (May 1992) – In France & Switzerland, 80 per cent of the largest companies use handwriting analysis in employment selection. In Israel, handwriting analysis is used more than any other form of personality assessment ... Ford Motor Company, General Electric, the CIA & other organizations have begun using the technique as a preventive & reactive instrument ... Research in graphology continues to evolve, exploring various aspects of handwriting analysis and its applications. Research topics include: ➡ Psychological Correlations: Investigating the links between specific handwriting characteristics and personality traits or psychological states. ➡ Neuroscientific Studies: Exploring the neurological mechanisms underlying handwriting formation and the brain's response to different writing styles. ➡ Forensic Applications: Researching the reliability and validity of handwriting analysis in forensic contexts, such as signature verification and document authentication. ➡ Health and Well-being: Studying handwriting changes as potential indicators of neurological disorders, mental health conditions, or stress levels. ➡ Educational Assessments: Examining the effectiveness of handwriting analysis in educational settings for assessing students' learning styles, cognitive processes, and academic performance. These are just a few examples, and research in graphology continues to expand into new areas, driven by advancements in technology, psychology, #neuroscience, and other related fields. #cohortskills #graphology #handwritinganalysis #pseudoscience #psychology

The Succession Dilemma at LVMH: Who Will Succeed Bernard Arnault? ▶ Bernard Arnault, faces a critical decision as he considers which of his five children will succeed him at the helm of the world's largest luxury goods group. With a net worth estimated by Forbes to be around €200 billion, Arnault has spent a lifetime building an empire that includes 75 iconic brands such as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Tiffany, and Fendi. ▶ Recent changes in LVMH's corporate structure have given Arnault's children new decision-making power, fuelling speculation about the succession plan. ▶ Delphine, 49, leads Christian Dior, while Antoine, 46, heads LVMH's group communications and is CEO of Christian Dior SE. Alexandre, 31, modernised Rimowa and signed Beyoncé and Jay-Z at Tiffany, while Frédéric, 28, recently became CEO of LVMH Watches. Jean, 26, runs watchmaking at Louis Vuitton. ▶ Each of the Arnault children has been groomed for leadership, schooled by their father and assigned mentors within the company. They regularly meet with Arnault to discuss business strategies and decisions. However, the question remains: who will be chosen to lead LVMH into the future? ▶ Succession planning is a unique challenge for LVMH, as it is the first major "house of brands" to navigate a generational change across 75 labels. Arnault himself built his empire by exploiting the failures of other wealthy families to plan adequately for the future. ▶ As the opening ceremony of the Olympics and Paralympic games approaches, all eyes will be on the Arnault family, searching for clues about the succession plan. Whoever takes the reins will likely do so at a favourable time, as LVMH rarely has a bad year, thanks to its diverse portfolio of brands. ▶ The future of LVMH hinges on maintaining the desirability of its brands, and some believe that Alexandre and Frédéric are most in tune with modern notions of sustainability and digital savvy. ▶ As the succession debate intensifies, one thing is certain: Bernard Arnault will eventually have to make a choice that will shape the future of the luxury industry for generations to come. #luxpreneur #LVMH #succession #bernardarnault #luxuryindustry #familybusiness https://lnkd.in/dwtY2JcY

👩🏼💻 happy to have hosted the first webinar on the topic of parisian retail transformation with Daniela Leonini Bournazac - Emerging Retail Expert . Over the past few years, Paris has indeed emerged as a city effectively responding to the aftermath of COVID. The online regarding retail innovation in Paris have piqued my interest, and the detailed insights provided during the webinar have solidified this belief. 1. It's evident that physical retail is not obsolete but has adapted to meet evolving customer needs and expectations. Rather than merely focusing on product sales, brick-and-mortar stores now offer enhanced services and memorable experiences. 2. Customers are predominantly seeking individuality and diversity in enhanced services and memorable experiences. Parisian retailers are addressing this demand by introducing a wider range of store formats, hybrid concepts, additional services, hospitality offers, experiential features, and various activation events. The webinar's inclusion of stunning store examples beautifully illustrates these trends. 📧Get in touch if you would like to receive the link to the webinar. #topretailexpert #webinar #parisretail #retailexperience #customerexperience #storetour #phygital #jo2024

In case of progress, it is an extremely impotrant part - to reduce anxiousity of employees, on the one hand, and to make innovations play for you on the other. So, old and classy theory of talent development and motivation is transforming to capacity in catching trends and ability to learn fast. At the same time, companies by themself must be one step faster to predict new opportunities, to lead and manage changes. Strategies are becoming agle, which is borning just only few winners, who has a teams experienced enough to implement it correctly. For now, in a field of battle, AI vs Human, one can't exist without other. Just for now. Will see in 5 years. Оr even 10.

On the constructive dissent. “Team, I propose that we postpone further discussions of this matter until our next meeting to give ourselves time to develop disagreement” I think it isn't about discord or conflicts; it's the way for growth. Welcoming diverse viewpoints and fostering a culture of respectful disagreement can fuel innovation, strengthen collaboration, and facilitate more effective adaptability to change. I understand sometimes it’s not easy to see the thin line between critical thinking and sterile criticism, but stretching creativity is always an enrichment and we should try to confront our views in any cases, at all levels, even more with in line managers. We should be (and encourage) responsible followers. Agree?

Game changer or Game over? French luxury facing the e-distribution revolution 💥 Thank you, Stratégies and Delphine Soulas-Gesson, for publishing our opinion and our responses to the ongoing revolution impacting e-distribution for luxury brands. Here are a couple of snapshots: In recent years, several failures in luxury e-commerce have created the impression that this sector is incompatible with digital. However, these disappointments are due to questionable strategic choices: risky investments, organizational rigidities, and unsuitable technologies. Continuing on this path is no longer an option; choosing the same path is a receipe for disaster! (...) To embrace this e-distribution revolution, luxury brands must develop a dual personality: on one side, preserve the luxury DNA for their core business; on the other, adopt technological pragmatism for everything concerning their back office, which should be both technical and operational, thereby multiplying their sales forces. The back-office must now be technological, agile, agnostic, and business-focused, to connect to platforms, disseminate rich and tailored information, and evolve at the pace of markets, usage, and innovation. GaiaSuite addresses this revolution for our brands and partners. I like this approach because it is pure and straightforward (absolutely needed in a #VUCA world). Going a level deeper, I would definitely add the following components: 🚀 Long-Term Vision: While short-term wins are important, it's essential to align decisions with the long-term vision and goals of the organization. This helps ensure sustainability and growth over time. 🔄 Agility and Adaptability: The business landscape is constantly changing, and being able to adapt quickly to new information or shifts in the environment is vital. This includes being open to pivoting strategies when necessary. 🤝 Empathy and Understanding: Considering the perspectives and needs of all stakeholders involved is crucial. Empathy helps in making decisions that are not only effective but also considerate of the impact on people. 🌍 Inclusive Leadership: Encouraging diverse viewpoints and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their ideas leads to more innovative and robust solutions. 📚 Continuous Learning: Learning from past experiences and continuously seeking feedback helps improve the decision-making process over time. It's about creating a culture of continuous improvement and learning. It's a constant journey ...... #leadership #strategy #businessdevelopment

“Beyond cultivating a mindset that embraces uncertainty, to successfully navigate M&A transformation, leaders need to understand from the get-go that plans will change and they’ll need to remain flexible. (…) Playbooks can be your foundation for guidance, but consider them as fluid. To embrace a more agile approach for transformation through M&A, consider adopting these principles: 1) Design the deal, define objectives and key results (OKR), and divide work into sprints. View the deal vision as a “thesis”, to be tested and measured by OKR’s your team commits to from the beginning, and divide the work into short and long sprints. 2) Solicit, assess, iterate, and adjust. Once the integration launches, cross-functional team leaders should solicit data consistently and assess what’s working and what isn’t. 3) Debrief and operationalize where possible. Debrief throughout, breaking down the work sprints to identify successful aspects and areas for improvement. Look for patterns across similar situations and consider which practices can be standardized — this can improve processes, mitigate unnecessary costs, and foster teamwork. 4)Assess key employee metrics. Throughout this process, assess for key employee metrics tailored to M&A. “ #mergersandaquisitions #value #finance #cfo

What symbolizes the picture below? yes, it is a Swiss army knife... but without the main blade have you heard that the main blade on the famous Swiss army knife is going to disappear? The CEO of Victorinox said increased regulation of knives in certain countries leads to the decision that the new line of Swiss Army Knives will come without the knife back to my question... isn't it like * a bird without developed wings * a formula one driver without a fast car * a consultant without excel & PowerPoint * a business analyst without SQL database * a big data engineer on a small laptop * a sales manager without sales controlling * an employee without a supporting partner * a python developer forced to use Scala * ... well, we all have our dependencies on tools, colleagues, friends, and partners. another anecdote on this. one of my professors once drew a lot of 1 digits in a row asking us what that means... "that are your skills! which can be a quite large number but when you don't have an A in your main exam drawing a zero and a decimal point in front of the large number of 1 digits (i.e. 0.11111) you stay a 'zero' " hahaha... If you can't use your core competency for some reason, it can be challenging to phrase it positively ;-) #swiss #tools

"The Future of Diamond Prices: What the Experts Predict" The global diamond industry is a dynamic and ever-evolving landscape, and the question on everyone's mind is - where will diamond prices be in the next 10 years? The renowned Boston Consulting Group has just released a comprehensive report that sheds light on the future of this precious commodity. After a thorough analysis of the market, from supply and demand dynamics to macroeconomic factors and the rise of lab-grown diamonds, their experts have forecasted a 3-5% annual increase in natural diamond prices over the next decade. This is certainly intriguing news for anyone invested in or interested in the diamond industry. What could be driving this projected price growth? How will the rise of lab-grown diamonds impact the market? And what regional variations might we see across different countries? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the future of diamond prices. Do you agree with BCG's predictions? What factors do you think will have the biggest influence on diamond valuations in the years to come?

Nature's beauty is irreplaceable, with its vibrant colors, soothing sounds, and incredible diversity. However, the impact of climate change on our natural ecosystem necessitates the collective responsibility of protecting and preserving nature's biodiversity L’Oréal Groupe has started to play its part. Through the L’Oréal Fund for Nature Regeneration initiative, €50 million will support innovative projects that help restore damaged ecosystems such as forests, mangroves, marine areas, and degraded lands. The end goal? To restore 1 million hectares of ecosystems by 2030. What do you think we should start to do on a personal level to preserve biodiversity? #CreateTheBeautyThatMovesTheWorld

To paraphrase one of my favorite outdoor brands… “Never Stop Learning”. Living in Lausanne, right next to one of the world’s best business schools IMD it would be foolish not to take up the many opportunities for thought-provoking “sessions”. Today it was great to re-unite with Prof. Stéphane J.G. Girod and to see my friend Pascal O. Ravessoud from FHH - Fondation Haute Horlogerie for a joint Masterclass on Customer Engagement. Great presentations from Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. and Nestlé Nespresso SA but with so much expertise in the room it was Prof. Stéphane J.G. Girod that steered the conversation in the most productive and engaging way. And, surprise, surprise, in the age of AI the weakest (or strongest) link remains the person that is putting his / her face in front of the final customer. Not enough is done to keep them engaged, motivated, passionate about the Brand they represent and the product they are selling. All brands in this space try to offer “money can’t buy” experiences but when addressing HNWIs that can access pretty much anything the key is - in my humble opinion - to provide genuine human relationships, sharing one of the most valuable commodities we have - TIME - and to strive to be as honest, personable and authentic as possible. As always, this post was generated without the help of AI. #IMD #IMDLuxury2050 #FHH #Masterclass #Luxury #Sustainability #ConsumerEngagement
