Industrial AI will require modern infrastructure at a competitive scale. Understanding the necessary computational infrastructure to secure our AI future as leaders not just consumers is critical. We have a generational gap in investments in sovereign secure supercomputing that we can correct if we work in partnership with government, industry and supercomputing engineers like Dr.Grant to ensure Canadians AI experts in government, defence, and industry need to have these essential tools. We have to match our investments with the global movement to secure modern next generation superchips and GPUs that currently are missing in the Cdn landscape as are the world class HPC experts needed to run them for our AI communities.

As a co-founder of a health-tech company in Canada, I'm driven by a simple yet powerful belief: optimal health shouldn't be a privilege—it should be accessible to all Canadians. Our initial vision for NiaHealth was to offer an alternative to the traditional executive health assessments. We wanted to streamline the diagnostic process, cut through the noise of unnecessary tests, and bring down costs. To our surprise, we’ve found that about 10% of our clients had previously used executive health services and discovered that our approach isn’t just comparable—it’s often a superior, more insightful, and cost-effective solution. This realization led us to explore why there was such a significant gap between conventional executive health services and what we offer. What we found was eye-opening. At NiaHealth, we focus on evidence-based diagnostics like blood tests, VO2 max assessments, and DEXA scans to provide comprehensive, tailored insights into your health. Our services are rooted in the latest scientific research, ensuring that we offer more accurate and actionable information than traditional methods. And we do all this with a commitment to convenience, offering services that you can access from the comfort of your home or office. The traditional executive health model in Canada has long combined basic primary care with high-cost, specialized assessments, often resulting in minimal health benefits for a high price. At NiaHealth, we challenge this outdated model by offering a personalized, proactive healthcare experience that’s both accessible and inclusive. We’re on an exciting journey as we work to redefine healthcare for all Canadians, making it truly accessible for everyone. #proactivehealth #healthtech #healthcareforall

Navigating Canada's diverse clinical guidelines to deliver effective, evidence-based healthcare is a major challenge for clinicians. Keeping up with the latest research isn't just difficult—it's crucial for providing consistent, high-quality care. Unfortunately, this often results in noticeable differences in patient experiences. At NiaHealth, we're transforming healthcare by ensuring every clinician and patient has immediate access to the latest evidence-based practices. Dr Robin Brown MD, our Oxford-educated Head of Clinical Research, and his team continuously evaluate new research to enhance longevity and wellness for all our clients. Each recommendation undergoes rigorous review by our diverse Canadian physician panel to ensure it meets clinical standards. This focused approach enables us to quickly integrate innovations that benefit all our clients. This commitment means every client receives optimal care every time. Our dedication to finding the most effective tools for managing longevity and wellness isn't just about efficiency—it's about improving care quality without increasing costs. By integrating advanced testing and technology, we empower clinicians to serve more patients effectively and stay at the forefront of healthcare innovation. Join us at NiaHealth to simplify healthcare, support clinicians, and ensure every patient receives top-notch care based on the latest evidence. #healthtech #proactivehealth #longevity

Exciting news! 🚀 As we celebrate our win at the latest round of funding at the Accelerator Centre, I'm reminded of the immense potential technology holds in transforming healthcare efficiency. 💡 With additional resources and funding, we are gearing up to scale our SurgiTwin platform, not just as a technological innovation, but as a solution to improve health system productivity. Our efforts will continue to focus on optimizing Perioperative workflow for more surgical departments across North America.🏥 By leveraging technology, we aim to address healthcare challenges without solely relying on capital, resources, or patient wait times. It's about efficiency, innovation, and ultimately, improving patient care. 🌟 Congratulations to all the participants, the Accelerator Centre, and FedDev Ontario for their dedication to fostering innovation in our tech ecosystem. Let's continue to drive positive change and make a difference in healthcare and beyond. 👏 #HealthcareInnovation #TechForGood #Efficiency #SurgiTwin #ACStudio #FedDevOntario #AcceleratorCentre #HealthSystemProductivity #DigitalHealth

January 24, 2024: Student Suggests Umbrella Approach to Health Care Had the opportunity to speak with Bob Bellacicco at CTV news related to the approaches to improving and advancing the health care system. “If you focus on multiple things at once you're going to actually have the full umbrella approach to health care and I think that's what we need right now.” If we focus solely on one aspect of health care, other parts will falter. It is important to look at the bigger picture (health care as a whole). Just like an umbrella, if we only have one part of the umbrella up and working, we won’t be covered fully by the rain or whatever else comes our way; however, if all aspects are looked at and all parts are there, then we will be covered, happier, and can achieve optimal health outcomes. One can look at the umbrella (health care and health care systems) as having many components, represented by each panel (leadership and governance, finances, healthcare workforce, health care products and resources, healthcare infrastructure and service delivery, and health information systems). Without having all of these collectively in seam with each other, and without intersectoral collaboration and vested interest into a holistic, “umbrella” approach to care, improvement to existing systems will not occur. https://lnkd.in/edq7iHmY

We are well past filling 'care gaps' through digital healthcare. Important update from Ontario by Sylvain Roy and the Askforhelptoday.ca team at the Ontario Psychological Association! Digital health provides essential scalable system platform elements of the future of healthcare from assessment and triage to coordination, care delivery across the continuum of mental health, urgent care and chronic disease management, with emerging impact opportunity for integrating both health and social care and health and wellness supports. The systems imperative now is to optimize for the options and choice architecture across both digital and physical service ecosystems to ensure intentionally and systematically designed comprehensive integrated health and social care within and across digital and physical care in community, primary care and specialist settings. This is a top to bottom rethinking and restructuring of the systems of care. Not the 'patient-centred medical home' of the past but the 'person-centred community health home' of the future.

Big news - new Connected Care for Canadians Act "Delayed access to personal health information causes harm to patients – it can result in unnecessary or duplicative tests, longer wait times and hospital stays, and medication errors. When health providers and patients have access to health information, there are decreased re-admission rates, increased accuracy of diagnosis, increased quality of care, and fewer deaths. Connectivity will ease the burden on patients, families, and caregivers who must often recall and repeat their medical history. It also reduces stress on health care providers who are having to make decisions without access to all of the patient's information." https://lnkd.in/gTfuqExJ

Hi everyone, Isn’t it interesting how we start out with ideas that seem very vague and years later they start coming together? This was me in 2019 when I signed up for Health Systems Improvement Fellowship through University of Alberta School of Public Health program. I was curious about how to improve the health system and myself as a potential leader. This was a self-sponsored initiative as with many of my other learnings. On reflection, there were times when I experienced ‘Imposter Syndrome’, since I was not in a leadership position, unlike the other attendees of the fellowship program. I didn’t allow that hold me back. I was a Family Physician in Calgary who was wrapping up her Master in Public Health degree and very curious about local initiatives and more learnings. I was seeking new and bold ideas for contributing to the health and wellbeing of Canadians in a meaningful way. Let’s backtrack a bit. At the time, one of the assignments was to create one’s own personal vision and mission. Guess what mine were? Let’s see if you guessed it right. No, there were too many interests which made my vision way too much. However, I will share it with you. My personal vision: 1. Improve the culture of Medicine - better team interactions for healthier workplaces (nursing, care aides, pharmacists, and allied staff) 2. Improve Canadian Health System by fostering workplace diversity (welcoming cultural differences and inter-sectoral collaboration) 3. Improve the concept of diversity in the workplace to one that fosters growth, development, equity and inclusion (includes the under-represented and people with disability). 4. Work towards preventing burnout and improving the management of adversity and catastrophes like suicide for Canadians beyond medications (especially in physicians). On reflection, the highlighted vision from 2019 remains valid today in 2024 . Progress made: I wrote NOTHING LEFT TO GIVE- Identify and Overcome Burnout To Get Your Life On Track. It highlight the ills of burnout through cultural lens. Hopefully, more people recognize burnout, its symptoms, consequences and better able to adopt actionable strategies beyond self-care. In my current role as physician advisor, Diversity, and Inclusion, Wellness and Leadership development, I’ve been privileged to share strategies for moving from Diversity to Inclusion and achieving Gender Equity. There’s still more work to be done. Remember: - continue dreaming, even when seems wild -don’t give up on our dreams - be flexible wherever -be patient; wait for it to finally come together. The ideal state requires time and patience Hopefully, you were not misled into thinking I have arrived. Far from it- I’m going through the process. My dreams are coming and getting wilder. Will keep you posted as things evolve..
