    One of the interview questions Kwini Reed asks at her restaurants is: Do you take vacations? Here's why: If vacations are important to someone, they won't get upset when someone else requests a week off. They'll empathize and figure out how to work around it - so the employee gets the time off they need. The top 3 benefits that restaurant employees report they want are: 🌴 Paid time off 🏥 Health insurance 📈 Retirement savings / 401k Staff meals or post-shift drinks have traditionally been the beginning and the end of any benefits. But as the restaurant industry evolves, employees demand the benefits of the traditional 9-to-5 job. It's a culture shift, but one the industry must embrace. If you don't have the means right now, consider the basics. It could be as simple as flexibility with schedules or a few days of paid vacation.

    Happy Pride Month! 🌈 This year, we are embracing Vancouver Pride's ‘Infinite Horizons’ theme, which calls on us to look beyond the horizon and embrace the endless potential of Canada's diverse and vibrant 2SLGBTQAI+ community. This theme inspires us to challenge societal norms, embrace authenticity, and recognize the resilience and strength of this community. We're proud to celebrate our 2SLGBTQAI+ community during Pride Month and every day of the year! Here's how we've celebrated the last few weeks: 🎉 Hosted a fabulous Virtual Drag Bingo! Summer, from Screaming Queens Entertainment, led a lively and fun-filled bingo game. Our favourite part was jamming out to throwback songs together and of course, winning a prize or two 🎵 🕺 🌈 Marched in the Saskatoon Pride Parade with Vendasta. We started the day off right with a Bedazzled Brunch hosted by their team, then joined the parade in our brightest colours and biggest smiles. Teaming up with Vendasta again this year was fantastic! 🍹Enjoyed a Pride Happy Hour at the Rendezvous Rainbow Patio in Toronto! Our Toronto team, including our SLT & ELT members, celebrated in style and decked out in fun pride-themed gear. In celebration of Pride Month, 7shifts has also donated to the Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity (CCGSD-CCDGS).
