Dak Prescott has had some talks with the Dallas Cowboys about a new contract, but he isn't concerned about the lack of movement on a deal.

Speaking to reporters at the site of his youth football camp in Texas on Tuesday, Prescott said the money "will take care of itself" eventually.

It's been a strange offseason for Prescott and the Cowboys so far. Owner Jerry Jones declared on multiple occasions the team was "all-in" for 2024, but they responded by being quiet in free agency and not doing anything dramatic in the draft.

While there is an argument for the Cowboys not going overboard, they seem to be engaging in a game of chicken with arguably their three best players. Prescott is entering the final season of his current contract, which includes a no-tag clause.

CeeDee Lamb is entering the final year of his rookie deal and recently stated he wouldn't be answering contract questions during his youth football camp.

Micah Parsons is at least under contract for the next two seasons, so the Cowboys have some wiggle room on an extension with their star pass-rusher.

There was also the recent story about Prescott wearing a walking boot during a recent vacation with his girlfriend in Cabo San Lucas. He posted a picture on Instagram on July 6 showing him with no boot on his foot.

ESPN's Todd Archer reported the boot was for a minor foot sprain that is not expected to impact Prescott's availability for the Cowboys' first training camp practice on July 25.

Prescott is virtually in a no-lose situation right now. He could potentially get the deal he wants from Dallas, but his contract allows him to hit true free agency next offseason as a 31-year-old.

There will likely be multiple teams ready to break the bank for a quarterback of Prescott's caliber if he ends up hitting the open market. The ball is in Dallas' court right now to get a deal done, especially to keep this from becoming a distraction going into training camp and the regular season.

Prescott is coming off arguably the best season of his career in 2023. The three-time Pro Bowler threw for 4,516 yards and an NFL-high 36 touchdowns to finish second in NFL MVP voting.
