Empowering women in power   Today’s energy students are tomorrow’s transition leaders.   So TagEnergy is helping shape the careers of women who will drive our industry’s future.   We’re doing it through the TagEnergy Women in Energy scholarship that has returned for its second year.   The scholarship supporting next generation women leaders is part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion and driving change in our sector where women are under-represented.   Encouraging more talent to join our industry is also essential for our mission to speed the world towards net-zero carbon emissions.   The scholarship is open to women enrolled in a master’s program related to the energy and renewables sector, including engineering in its many forms, at Instituto Superior Técnico. The university is located in TagEnergy’s home base of Lisbon.   The €6000 scholarship includes €1000 towards tuition fees and 10 monthly grants of €500.   Applications are open now and close 5 July.   If you are passionate about influencing the future of renewables and driving the energy transition, we’d love you to apply. You can get more information here https://lnkd.in/dV8s8Ze6

Thanks Kane Thornton and WestWind Energy - Australia for highlighting the work we are doing to accelerate Australia’s transition to clean and renewable energy.

Have you ever wanted to see the view from atop a wind turbine? Check out the latest video by Chief Executive of the Clean Energy Council Kane Thornton as he presents from 149 metres up at the Golden Plains Wind Farm. We were thrilled last week when Stage Two of the project was announced, which together with Stage One, is expected to create more than 700 jobs during the construction phase alone. It’s official! Southern Hemisphere’s biggest project! You read it right. There is now no bigger wind farm under construction in the Southern Hemisphere than our very own Golden Plains in Victoria, Australia. We’ve already started construction on Stage 2 of our $4 billion AUD mega-project after reaching financial close. And we were buoyed by a game-changer - the supportive environment created the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme. It gave us the confidence and motivation to start construction now. We’re grateful to the lenders helping us drive the clean energy transition including Australia’s Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Commonwealth Bank Westpac, Export and Investment Fund of Denmark Japan’s Mizuho Bank, France’s Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking , the Bank of China and Germany’s Deutsche Bank. And we’re proud to again be working with valued industry colleagues as we relentlessly pursue net-zero together, including Vestas, Westwind, AusNet Services and the Australian Energy Market Operator. We’re proud to be ‘Southern Hemisphere’s biggest’ - not because of the bragging rights the scale of our project gives us, but because of the impact the scale of our project means for the energy transition. Together, the 1,333MW Stage 1 and 2 of our project will deliver 9% of Victoria’s energy when completed in mid-2027. If someone builds a bigger one and we hand over the ‘Southern Hemisphere’s biggest’ crown, we’d celebrate - because it would mean even more renewable energy for a world that desperately needs it. We are pleased to announce that Forestry Corporation of NSW have granted us a permit to investigate a potential wind farm in the pine plantations near Black Springs, New South Wales, Australia. We have partnered with our friends at Stromlo Energy who will lead the community engagement, investigations and approvals for the proposed project. We look forward to meeting with the local community in the coming weeks. More information is available at https://lnkd.in/de6skGFX https://lnkd.in/dBSekz6p

Who’s counting? We are - to 122.   It’s not every day you get to make a contribution to what will be Australia’s largest wind farm to accelerate the energy transition.   But that’s what our valued partner MPC Kinetic has done at Golden Plains Wind Farm - 122 times!   That’s how many foundations MPK has laid for us onsite, from the first one their wonderful team poured in July 2023, to the final one this week.   A collaborative effort saw the MPK team lay an average of three foundations every week, to keep stage one of our project on track to start delivering renewable energy to the people of Victoria later this year.   Any project is only as strong as the foundations it is built upon. While the final pour marks the end of MPK’s foundations work, it paves the way for the next stage of our vital project to take shape.   Stay tuned!

Sailing towards net zero You usually find TagEnergy navigating our way towards a net zero future. But this week, we navigated Sydney Harbour too. We joined more than 400 sailors in the 2024 edition of the renewable industry’s premier annual charity event, the TagEnergy Renewable Energy Cup. It’s a wind-powered event that celebrates and inspires our industry, while supporting an important charity, the Australian Marine Conservation Society. Almost 50 teams from organisations united in their mission to fight climate change entered this year’s event. It’s a friendly competition, because we’re all in the energy transition together. So while one team gets to hoist the cup at the end of the day, when we all work together against climate change, our planet is the real winner. We’re proud to support our vital industry as the sponsor of the event. But we’re even prouder to stand shoulder to shoulder - or should that be sail to sail - with all our likeminded industry colleagues, united in our common goal. Three down and three more on the way! We’ve gone live at Jamesfield - our third battery energy storage system (BESS) in the UK after Hawkers Hill and Chapel Farm. The 49MW/98MWh facility near Abernethy, Scotland is a joint venture with our valued partner Harmony Energy. We couldn’t wait to start storing electrons at our newest facility, so we didn’t! We progressively came online from November as sections of the site were finalised. Now, with construction complete, we’re fully up and running to speed the energy transition. We love working with trusted, expert partners who share our passion for a renewables-led energy future. This is our second JV with Harmony (after Chapel Farm.) And we’re proud to partner again with Tesla (batteries and software) and RES (asset manager) at Jamesfield too. Now for completion of Roaring Hill, Lakeside and Pitkevy!
