Take over Melbourne; Oscar Piastri Edition 🇦🇺 Months of planning has lead to this very moment, a congratulatory billboard (or three!) for when Oscar Piastri won his first Formula 1 Grand Prix is finally live in the Melbourne CBD. With Oscar taking his maiden Formula 1 victory overnight, the team was quick to organise these massive billboards to showcase our 'On Ya Osc' graphic to thousands of Melburnians in the city for the next week in celebration for the boy from Brighton. The Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) is pleased to share the appointments of Linda Dessau AC CVO and Dr Gillian Sparkes AM to the AGPC Board. Ms Dessau was the Governor of Victoria for eight years and has held various roles in the legal profession including as a Judge in the Family Court of Australia for 18 years. She has also served as a Commissioner of the AFL, President of the Melbourne International Arts Festival and a Trustee of the National Gallery of Victoria. Dr Sparkes was a Victorian Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability from 2014 to 30 June 2024. She has more than 20 years’ experience as a non-executive Chair and Director across Government and non-Government Boards, and currently holds the position of Deputy Chair and Trustee of The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation. Ms Dessau and Dr Sparkes will serve three-year terms on the Board, with Ms Dessau also taking on the role as the Board’s Deputy Chair. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gNddMn3p

As NAIDOC week comes to a close for 2024, we were lucky enough to also have Samala from MumRed and Paul Kelly visit AGPC this week to share with staff First Nations stories, music, clothing and artefacts.    Staff were encouraged to get involved in the cultural awareness session learning about traditional artefacts including boomerangs, emu feathers, coolamons, and crocodile teeth. The team was also shown the breathing techniques required for playing the Yidaki, Didgeridoo. AGPC is proud to support and learn from First Nations peoples and we will continue to engage First Nations organisations across our business operations. Happy NAIDOC week! NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for Australians to celebrate and recognise the history, cultures, and achievements of First Nations peoples. We worked with the team at Little Rocket to welcome WUDTJAMEEN into our office to facilitate a workshop on the traditional practice of weaving. Weaving is a way that First Nations people share knowledge and connect with others, and we were lucky enough to learn this from Georgia Anne, a Central and Eastern Arrernte woman and multi-disciplinary artist who is the owner WUDTJAMEEN and has been learning the art of weaving for a decade. IT'S OFFICIAL! Australia will once again play host to the Formula 1® season opener.   Hot on the heels of a record-breaking weekend at Albert Park, Formula 1® has confirmed that Australia will return as the first race in 2025.    The announcement comes following the release of the F1® 2025 calendar, the season slated for 24 races with Melbourne confirmed for 13 - 16 March, 2025. The FORMULA 1 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2025 will be the world’s first look at Lewis Hamilton in red after the seven-time World Champion‘s bombshell move that sees him join Ferrari from 2025.    Stay tuned for on-sale dates and ticketing information in the coming months. #AusGP #F1 #Melbourne
