Manage Markers

Markers that appear for the stores on a map can be managed through the “Manage Marker” tab in the WordPress admin panel. Admins can add a new marker or search for existing markers by ID or by marker name. Furthermore, the “Manage Marker” tab has an option to create, edit or delete existing markers.

How to Add a Custom Marker #

To enhance the visual appeal and user experience of your store locator, you can replace the default markers with custom icons. Here’s a simple guide on how to add a custom marker to your Agile Store Locator map.

Step 1: Access Manage Markers #

First, navigate to the ‘Manage Markers’ section in your Agile Store Locator admin panel. This area allows you to manage and customize the map markers used in your locator.

Step 2: Edit Your Marker #

If you wish to replace the default red marker, look for the marker with ID “1”. This is typically the default marker used by the system. Click on ‘Edit marker’ next to the corresponding entry to modify it.

Step 3: Upload Your Custom Marker Image #

In the edit screen, you will find an option to upload a new marker image. Select your custom marker pin image from your device and upload it. Ensure that your image is of appropriate size and resolution for optimal display on different devices.

Step 4: Save Changes #

After uploading your new marker image, save “”Update Marker”. The system will automatically update all instances where the marker ID is “1” to your new custom marker.

By following these steps, you can easily customize the appearance of your store locator with unique markers that better fit your brand’s style and theme.

Troubleshooting SVG Marker File Uploads #

Some users may encounter issues when attempting to upload SVG marker files to the Agile Store Locator. By default, WordPress restricts the uploading of SVG files for security reasons, unless you are logged in as a super administrator.

Issue Description #

SVG files are blocked from being uploaded if you are not logged in with super administrator privileges. This restriction can prevent the addition of custom SVG markers to your store locator.

To bypass this restriction, you can use a third-party plugin such as “SVG Support.” This plugin allows the safe uploading of SVG files by non-super administrators. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Install the SVG Support Plugin
    • Go to your WordPress dashboard.
    • Navigate to Plugins > Add New.
    • Search for “SVG Support” and install the plugin.
    • Activate the plugin once installed.
  2. Upload Your SVG File
    • After activating the plugin, try uploading your SVG marker file again through the Agile Store Locator Manage Makers.
  3. Deactivate the Plugin (Optional)
    • Once your SVG marker file is successfully uploaded and confirmed to be working correctly, you may deactivate the SVG Support plugin if no longer needed. This step is optional and should be based on your site’s security policies and plugin management practices.
