For all the lovers of C418's classic soundtrack, or maybe just those that are a little annoyed that Mojang keeps messing up the way music plays, this pack reworks music to be less frustrating, prioritizing C418's tracks without completely removing any of the new ones.

An explanation of the difference between 'Bedrock Style' and 'Java Style' can be found after the features list. 'Java Style' for Java Edition can be found here. 'Bedrock Style' for Bedrock Edition can be found here.

Features:
  • Removes swamp music from all non-Swamp biomes except Lush Caves.
  • Removes Caves and Cliffs music and Bromeliad from Forests and Jungles, reverting them to how they were pre-1.18.
  • Rebalances Nether and Menu music so that C418's tracks play more often (especially in the Wastes).
  • Adds One More Day to Frozen Peaks to match Bedrock Edition.
  • Makes music quieter to match the Bedrock release of the pack.
What's the difference between Java Style and Bedrock Style?

Prior to 1.16, Bedrock Edition played all its music at 10% - 30% volume, but newer music plays at Java Edition's 40% - 100% volume. The 'Bedrock Style' version of the pack fixes this issue by making newer music quieter, while the 'Java Style' version fixes it by making older music louder. This is the only difference between styles.

Known Issues:
  • Due to limitations with Java Edition, using the playsound command to play biome-specific music usually doesn't work.
  • The Title Screen may play an incorrect selection of tracks on versions the game does not read the pack as compatible with. Backports for game versions before multi-version packs are available on Modrinth.
  • Due to limitations with Java Edition, Flower Forests play their vanilla music in snapshots 24w12a and 24w14potato.
  • Various problems may occur if using this pack with another music pack. It is suggested that you do not do this.

v1.4.0 - Tricky Trials Update 1 : by Cornbread_Alphanumeric 07/04/2024 7:29:14 amJul 4th

Bug Fixes
  • Pack now properly replaces vanilla Deep Dark music instead of adding onto it in all game versions (instead of just snapshot 24w14potato).
  • Same for Jungles and Forests in game versions 1.19.X.
General Changes
  • Support now explicitly extends all the way back to snapshot 23w31a, which was the first to allow for multi-version packs.
  • Support now explicitly extends forward to game version 1.21.
  • Updated Menu Music; removing A Familiar Room, Bromeliad, Crescent Dunes, and Echo in the Wind; and adding Deeper, Eld Unknown, Endless, Featherfall, Puzzlebox, and Watcher at 15% volume; and komorebi, pokopoko, and yakusoku at 30% volume. Intentionally does not apply to game versions from snapshot 23w31a to release 1.20.6. Tracklist will likely be tweaked in a future update.
  • Increased the chances of menu music playing, giving the menu an almost 50-50 chance of playing either a menu track or a Tricky Trials track, slightly in Tricky Trials' favor.
  • Updated generic game tracklist (music.game), adding komorebi and yakusoku at 20% volume; and One More Day, Floating Dream, Left to Bloom, Comforting Memories, Featherfall, Puzzlebox, and Watcher at 10% volume. Tracklist will likely be tweaked in a future update.
  • All Forest and Jungle variants now only play the twelve ambient tracks from Volume Alpha instead of all of music.game, even in game versions from before the Tricky Trials music was added.
  • Updated Dripstone Caves tracklist; adding pokopoko at 20% volume with a weight of 2, Eld Unknown and Endless at 10% volume with a weight of 2, and Deeper at 10% volume. Tracklist may be tweaked in a future update.
  • Updated Stony Peaks tracklist; adding Eld Unknown with a weight of 2, and Endless, both at 10% volume. Tracklist may be tweaked in a future update.
  • Updated Jagged Peaks tracklist, adding pokopoko at 20% volume and Eld Unknown and Endless at 10% volume. Tracklist may be tweaked in a future update.
  • Updated Snowy Slopes tracklist, adding pokopoko at 20% volume.
  • Updated Grove tracklist, adding pokopoko at 20% volume and Eld Unknown and Endless at 10% volume. Tracklist may be tweaked in a future update.
  • Updated / reverted Lush Caves tracklist; adding Echo in the Wind and Featherfall with a weight of 2; and Aerie, Firebugs, and Labyrinthine; all at 10% volume. Intentionally does not apply to game versions from snapshot 23w31a to release 1.20.6, even though all but Featherfall exist in those versions. Tracklist will likely be tweaked in a future update.
  • Updated Deep Dark tracklist, adding Deeper at 10% volume. Tracklist will likely be tweaked in a future update.
  • Updated Cherry Grove tracklist, adding Featherfall at 10% volume and with a weight of 3. Weights may be tweaked in a future update.
  • Updated Badlands tracklist, adding Featherfall at 10% volume.
Technical Changes
  • Rubedo no longer explicitly has a weight of 1 in music.nether.nether_wastes since weight defaults to 1 if left undefined.
  • Slashed weights of Lush Caves music in half in game versions from snapshot 23w31a to release 1.20.6, since the pack prevents swamp music from playing there in those versions.
  • Snapshots from 23w31a (1.20.2 snapshot) to 24w11a (1.20.5 snapshot) now use the 'pretato' overlay.
  • Game versions from snapshot 24w13a to release 1.20.6 now use the 'posttato' overlay. It is identical to 'pretato', but references to the 'generic' filenames (calm1, piano3, nuance2, etc.) have been removed.
  • Added custom sound event cb_music.game_volume_alpha for parenting off of. It contains only the twelve ambient tracks from Volume Alpha.
  • changelog.txt entry for pack version 1.3.3 now describes A Familiar Room as 'really irritating' instead of 'realy irritating'.
  • 'Accommodate' in changelog.txt entry for pack version 1.3.2 is now correctly spelled with two 'm's.
