Accipiter was a young Red-Tailed Hawk from the Buteo Forests where all birds were flightless. His Brother Jamaicensis ate mostly all the food in the nest. Accipiter was starving so he tried climbing down the tree his nest was on. Unfortunately there was a branch below him that was to far for him to jump onto. He tried to face his fear but he could not so, he thought of spreading his wings and jumping. So he did and he made it gliding slowly. He jumped off the and glided down to the ground. He thought if he had thrust and acceleration he could fly like the little moths he tries to catch in his nest, but his brother eats it. Accipiter tried to run and flap his wings and he jumped and took off in the air. Flapping at how much his little heart full of bravery could take. After many flaps he was up high in the sky he got tired from flapping. When he got higher in the air he felt a little wind. He remembered that his father told them about a mysterious wind up high called the thermals. He riding the thermals he just spread his wings and relaxed. A little rodent caught his eye he was hungry so he thought of a strategy. Well he had sharp claws, so he thought he could catch it. He seen his parent running at mice and killing them. He thought with his ability of flight he could attack it from above. He flew by the little rodent and snatched it. He was so happy about eating it he just flew on a ledge where no other bird could get him. He enjoyed eating it he was still hungry. So he flew on a tree and a rattlesnake caught his eye. He had an idea he could not snatch it, instead he would go down and use physical combat. He spread his wings when he was by the rattlesnake so he could get it to strike at his wings then claw it. He caught a rattlesnake which supplied him with lots of meat. He flew back to the nest to see his parents. After a long journey back to the nest he met with his parents who were worried sick. "ACCIPITER" his mother yelled where have you been "teaching myself new ways to do things" he admitted. His mother was impressed when Accipiter showed her that he could fly. His mother told him that he should go to the bird god Ave to show him flying. He flew over many different terrain forests, deserts, swamps and shorelines. He finally arrived to the Ave's Palace. Ave was a Golden Eagle (not solid gold, golden eagles are a type of bird) Accipiter showed Ave how to fly. Ave was so impressed he took Accipiter to Silva avem (Latin for bird forest). All the gods voted that Accipiter should be the God of Flight so he did.
