ok, thanks for the explanation. The real-time data was nice I think to tell new players how updated and popular a map was on the mcforum posts. I guess I will switch to borings links for now :/
I have good news! The widget data system is back online meaning you'll now see new data again. As of this post all projects are updated with new data and will be updated every ~30 minutes. Thanks to the help of the CurseForge team we're back in action, and there shouldn't be any further issues. Please PM me if you run into any further issues with your widgets.
The download counter on the map post is frozen at 30,415 downloads and has been for a while. Whereas the project page shows it is actually at 31,711 downloads. I have loved the design of your widget and have been using it for several years. Is there something about the BBCode that needs to be changed?
Hi, unfortunately the widgets are no longer able to update. You can visit cfwidget.com to learn more, here's the notice:
"Due to changes made to the availability of CurseForge data to third party services we are no longer able to provide fresh data. All data served by this service is accurate as of March 17th 2018. I am working with the CurseForge team to determine the long term status of this service. At this time, it is not recommended to use this service. Please reach out to me via email with any questions: [email protected]."
I still don't have any news regarding this, and I think realistically the widgets probably won't update ever again. I'm sorry for the inconvenience but this is unfortunately beyond my control If the widgets are important to you then I recommend reaching out to CurseForge support and encourage them to launch their own first party widgets
Please let me know if you need any further information.
Probably because mods.curse.com has moved to curseforge.com
I'm sorry for the inconvenience -- you're correct that the issue is the move from mods.curse.com to curseforge.com, I am working towards relaunching the widget with support for the new curseforge.com. Hopefully, this will be launched this week.
I can't provide any insight into the curseforge rewards program, you would need to reach out to curseforge directly for that. Regarding curseforge vs. adfly, adfly advertisers consistently distribute malware and other problematic content to users, meaning if you choose to use adfly you're making a conscious decision to expose your players to this content. Some content creators are comfortable with that, others aren't. I can't speak to the financial results of adfly vs. curseforge.
Does this strictly need to be from the curse website or can it be from curseforge? I'm looking into making maps and curseforge has a much better look to me.
mods.curse.com just pulls data from CurseForge; if your project is on CurseForge, then it's available on mods.curse.com automatically You can click on the "View on curse.com" link on any CurseForge project page to be taken to the mods.curse.com page, which you can then use for the widget. Let me know if you have any more questions, or if you need help using the widget once you've made your maps
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but...
Every time I try to upload a file for the download, it tells me there's a duplicate. Yet, whenever I look at files, there aren't any there. So I'm caught in some endless loop where I have no files yet Curseforge is convinced there's a duplicate. Help?
I can't provide support for that unfortunately, but you should be able to get help from the CurseForge support team via http://support.curse.com
Is it just me or is the tool not currently working? Even the example on the main post is now invisible for me.
Thank you for your patience. I have identified and fixed the issue, due to a change in the way curse.com worked the widget was unable to process requests. This was in part due to poor quality of code on my part. I am working on a rebuild on the widget that should deal with these issues and more and should hopefully launch it in the very near future. Sorry for the troubles! Reliability is very important to a system like this and will be worked on as a priority going forward.
I finally got the widget to work after some troubles, however, I have a problem now. I wanted to update the file because I caught a bug. So I uploaded a new file. Added data to the change log. Archived the old file. However, the widget still downloads the old file. So I deleted it from the archives. No luck. The widget will only download that first file even though it says in the project section that I deleted that file.
very strange and annoying as players are downloading the bugged map still. If you click on the "view all 1 downloads" button you can see both still there, but the default for the "download now for 1.8.1" button on the widget is stuck on the old deleted file despite everything I can do. This isn't some cached memory thing is it?
The widget is cached for 1 hour at a time, if you wait 1 hour after deleting the file it should be gone. Let me know if you're experiencing any further problems.

1. Navigate to the CurseForge page for your project https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/intuition
2. Click "View on Curse.com" which will take you to the mods.curse.com page for your project (https://mods.curse.com/worlds/minecraft/253289-intuition)
3. Copy the final segment from the URL and then use the world BBCode, like so:

You've used the wrong slug -- easy mistake. The mods.curse.com slug is the one that the widget supports, you're using the curseforge slug.
You can find the mods.curse.com slug by clicking on "View on Curse.com" on the curseforge page, and then copying the final part of the URL:
https://mods.curse.com/worlds/minecraft/248368-spelunker-quest-adventure-map-by-zacharyguy becomes 248368-spelunker-quest-adventure-map-by-zacharyguy which becomes:
