The Book of Saw is about to be opened with the release of Spiral and Fandom has the exclusive debut of new animated promo art made in conjunction with the film, which can be seen above.

Acclaimed artist Shintaro Kago created the piece, which is right in his wheelhouse, as his work, done in a style referred to as “fashionable paranoia,” often deals with grotesque subjects – something the Saw series is very familiar with.

Chris Rock, who got the ball rolling on the film after he spoke to Lionsgate about his interest in the Saw series, stars in Spiral as Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks, who begins an investigation into murders that feel very reminiscent to the work of the infamous Jigsaw killer, John Kramer. Spiral features the return of director Darren Lynn Bousman to the franchise, having previously helmed Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV, and also stars Samuel L. Jackson as Zeke’s father, Marcus Banks.

Zeke and Marcus are both represented in Kago’s vivid and visceral animation… though things don’t work out so well for them.

We’ll find out if Zeke and Marcus can actually make it through unscathed when Spiral: From the Book of Saw opens May 14th in theaters, including IMAX locations.
